News form YALE?
I have to accept or refuse Penn, Columbia and Chicagos offer by the end of March, so I hope to have Yales news sooner.
Yesterday I saw a program that I recorded some time ago about the Skulls and Bones, that shows Yale campus Oh how lucky will be thus who get an acceptance letter!

Hello fellow LLM candidates,
This is my first post to a thread on this site. I just wanted to join in on the misery we feel during this period. I wish all of you the best.
Unfortunately, I have already received a rejection letter from my "safety" school - Fordham. I graduated #1 in my class with a J.D./M.B.A., law review, moot court, published law review article, judicial internship, etc., and still I was not admitted. I only hope Fordham is 'smoking crack,' or that there is some other irrational reason I was not admitted, because if there is a rational reason, I seriously doubt I will be admitted into NYU or CLS.
Truthfully, though, I believe a major factor that will affect all of us is there drastic increase in the number of applicants for LLM programs this year as compared to previous years; moreso, the fact that many of these applicants are attorneys from big law firms who have been laid off due to the financial crisis and realized that this is the best time to get a "specialized" education. This equals heavy competition for all of us.
At the end of the day, I am a very optimistic person, and believe that all of us will find our way one way or another. With that in mind, good luck to all.
I agree, the competition is enormous this year, especially for CLS and similar with a lot of lawyers taking time off from finance and returning to school.
Perhaps you were overqualified for Fordham? I was accepted a few weeks ago and I don't think my qualifications stack up as highly as yours appear to.
I think you'll have a good shot at CLS and NYU as you appear to be the type of candidate they are looking for, I am still waiting to hear back from them, so here's hoping for both of us!

If most of the people who studied in the same country as you have received a decision, it probably means that you will be waitlisted.
Then has anyone recieved a decision that studied in the UK?

Dear REM,
I'm truly impressed! it should be very troublesome to choose between the schools you've already got into, without counting Yale and perhaps Harvard...I've yet to hear from Chicago, due to a delay in sending a new application form. With regard to Yale, last year a dear friend of mine got a rejction letter from their school in late March. They will contact by phone (at least they did like this last year) the admitted students. For anybody else, they'll get back to this overwhelming majority of refused applicants by mail...hope it helped!

Thank you very much for your compliment Stagista11, and for sure your info help.
Yes, I am impressed too and I consider myself lucky. However, being selected by Yale it would be a dream come true!
Wish you good luck!

And, although I have not heard back from Columbia or NYU--both of which I applied to--I will post my "credentials."
-Graduated with honors from Rutgers School of Law-Camden
-an editor of the Law Journal (the major law review)
-two judicial clerkships
-a judicial internship
-appellate moot court competitor

I actually am finishing law school this year part time at U of London.
3 yrs in inhouse legal (obviously not as a qualified lawyer). 2yrs in govt legal policy.
Also have a dip in financial regulatory law as well.

Just for anyone's curiosity, I received an acceptance notice from NYU today for the LLM in Tax program. I'm from the U.S. and applied to study only at the Manhattan campus. Good luck to all who have applied. Decisions appear to be forthcoming.
I was just curious when you applied, or more importantly, when your application went complete? Congratulations!

Hi REM, I believe that you will not hear from Yale until late March, since it is, along with HLS the law school that receive more applications, but only 25 will get in, so, it must take time to select the best applicant!

NYU2009...
Is your current law school considered a "good" law school? Nevertheless, finishing #1 is commendable, regardless of which university you attend...

I didn't finish #1... I wish! My law school is pretty "good", it's not oxford or cambridge, but it's a good standard.

I'm not sure. They said they will not be able to provide a more definitve response until they hear back form SOME of those who have already been offered a place...so maybe they haven't spoke to EVERYONE that has been accepted.
