Thanks Stagista!
However, we know that what is "oficially" stated in their websites is not 100% accurate, since they always say that they will start to accept people in Feb- April, but ussually they start before.
For example, Duke says that decsiions will by made from Feb. 15, but I have read here that they have started to accept people.
I have not received any news... and, since I believe that I will not be accepted at CLS (I had 21 in the speaking section of the Toefl), I think that I will have to wait until Feb 8 to have more news (from Penn I guess)

I guess your toefl should not keep you from getting in. Applicant 2009 had a "low" toefl (100), and still got in. Wait and see. If they have not deferred or rejected you, you are still on the game.

I totally disagree with whom claimed the toefl score is essential to be admitted. it's important, beyond doubt, but no so much to take you out 'cause a 21 in one single section. I got 21 in speaking on a 104 overall score, and so far any Uni complained...Duke should get back to me - and of course also to you - before Xmas. I'll keep you posted by the way. For those of you interested in North Western U, once your application file is received they provide you with username and password. you can log-in in their website and check your status any time you want. a final decision takes from 6 to 8 weeks (for me, at today's date, from 4 to 6)

I think that this whole fuss regarding 'unexpectedly early' admission decisions stems from a common misunderstanding of English language. As far as I know, "BY MM/DD/YYYY" means "ON or BEFORE" that date. It does not mean, however, 'exactly' or 'approx.' on that date... (see http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/on+or+before )
Anyway, it would be really good to hear from SLS, HLS, YLS, NYU, Berkeley, Upenn (early adm.) or UMich as soon as possible!!! My SLS-SPILS app. package was delivered today!
Thanks Stagista!

Jenny, if it helps you in any way... I have been crossing emails with the adms off at UPenn a couple of times because my online app does not reflect the receipt of Toefl scores or transcripts although I submitted them through Lsac more than a month ago. Apparently they are having lots of trouble processing the information received on thanksgiving week, as they had some three days off or so. In any case I don't think they have already started communicating with admitted app. Wish you (and me) luck!

Hey Guys!
Do you think that we could hear this week notices from a top 10 law school (other than CLS)?
In a thread from 2006 or 2007, some people said that they hear about Penn by Dec. 20... It would be wonderfull to hear from them befeore Xmas...

for sure do not expect anything from Yale, Harvard, Berkeley, Chicago, Stanford. I don't know about NYU, Michigan, and UPenn. Duke and NWestern are likely to get back to you before Christmas.

Hi there!
Hope you all have the best possible results!
I received the previous week an acceptance e - mail from Duke and still waiting a response from some others...
I have the same problem as "FinLawyer" with UPenn. In my status appears that they haven't received the ibt toefl score report. Anyway, i think I should better call them..
Any news from UVA? And by the way, does anyone know how to find a ranking list or generally ranking information for the past ten years?
Thanks and good luck

sorry for asking, but did Duke grant you a scholarship? they wrote me an e-mail this afternoon, telling that they have finally received my latest toefl score (sent back on Nov. 26...), and that they will get back to me very soon...UVA sent me an e-mail last week about the same issue, and told me that they will notify their decisions by April

Hi Stagista11,
nothing to be sorry for. Well, I haven't asked yet for a tuition scholarship.. When I have any enlightening news I will let you know.

thank you for this quick reply. I thought they would communicate admission decisions and scholarships at the same time...

Sorry guys, I don't know how to start a new thread, so I have two questions:
a) How do I start a new thread?
b) I will complete my degree next year. I have received an email from NYU, saying they put my application on hold until submit my final grades.
What does this mean? Do they like me? Is this the usual procedure? Would they make a conditional offer like british universities if they liked me more?
Id be glad for any advice.

you have nothing to be afraid of. it's totally understandable that they won't allow you in before your current degree is over. now it's up to you to end up your studies and submit your transcripts before their deadline expires...may I ask you where are you from? south american?

Dear Pramadori,
Dnt worry....wen did you receive that email.....i mean have they stated that they will not review ur application till you submit final grades or something else..........in any case as long as you submit ur final grades in time, there's no such problem....i would suggest you to talk to ur present college authorities and confirm when the grades would be given to you and then see if you can make it in time and then accordingly get in touch with NYU staff.
To start a new thread, just go to the respective university where you want to start the thread, and there you will find this link on the top right hand side saying " New Board Post". just click on it and start a new board post......

Hi guys!
Besides CLS, GULC or Duke notices, any news from another top 10 Law School? (UPenn, Chicago etc.)
Hey guys!
I verified that I was accepted to Northwestern Univ. LLM/Kellogg program this morning. I still can't believe it. (FYI my application was completed on Oct. 26th)
I'm an international applicant from Korea and a non-attorney with 11 years of experience as an investment advisor and negotiation specialist. I don't think my academic records helped me get in for it was only 'average', graduating from Seoul National Univ.(LLB). I think they focused on my story as an underdog having a interesting background with a good success story. I have a good TOEFL score (116 IBT, 2007) but I don't think it was a ruling factor since I heard that, as long as your TOEFL score is above minimum requirement, they don't really care.
I hope this information helps. For those who are also admitted to Northwestern please let me know.
