No they just send me the basic rejection letter. I am guessing probably my toelf score of 101 (with 22 on the reading section) was an important part.

I was rejected too and the reason given was that my TOEFL score didn't meet the NYU's requirements.
"The Committee has asked me to inform you that they were impressed with your academic credentials but found your TOEFL total score and/or at least one of your subsection scores below that considered necessary for admission to the Graduate Division.
If you take the TOEFL examination again and improve your score to our minimum requirements, we invite you to reapply.
We appreciate your interest in NYU School of Law and hope to receive an application from you in the future."
I wonder whether every rejected applicant have got the same encouragement to re-apply. Please kindly share yours. It will help me a lot in self-evaluating. Thanks and wish you guys the best:)
@ Minnie
I got this rejection letter-
The Committee on Graduate Admissions has carefully considered your application. I am sorry to
inform you that the Committee is unable to offer you admission to the Graduate Division at the Law
School.
We hope you will understand that this decision is a reflection of the strength of our applicant pool,
rather than the result of a possible weakness in your application. We receive many more applications
for admission than we can accommodate each year, and inevitably we must turn away many
accomplished applicants simply for lack of space in our program.
Please accept our very best wishes for success in your future academic and professional plans. We
genuinely appreciate your interest in New York University School of Law.
Did most people get a similar rejection letter? I wasn't encouraged to reapply.. :(

@ s-india
Thank you very much for sharing.
And don't be sad. Encouraging to reapply or not is only a matter of personal discretion. We've gotta move on anyway.:)

re the message above about granting deferral for financial reasons, I don't know the answer but am interested in hearing anything you learn. I'm hoping to get a scholarship. If I don't, then I am considering asking to defer [domestic tax program] until 2012 so I can save more money.

Thanks.. But it would still be nice if other shared their rejection letters as well.. That way we get to know more about the committee's admission criteria and it also helps us work on our future applications...

I got the same rejection letter. I think it's pretty much a standard response.

I just got plain rejection (2-3 days before)without any given reason like someone did have. Could I ask you all(the NYU admitted) about your credential (including TOEFL score)
Here is my letter.....
