one more thing i have to ask.
the offer letter states that we have to withdraw all our applications and offers from all universities to we have applied to. I am just curious to ask. suppose we enroll ourselves in the NYU@NUS program will i really have to decline our offer from other univ.. i am waiting for harvard columbia. do i really have to withdraw my offer from harvard and columbia if i accept NYU@NUS course.

I don't understand how much funds are there with NYU to promote the program. Two years back I got a scholarship of 35000 USD, again this year I am getting the same scholarship. Was under the impression that with each passing year the scholarship amounts would start to reduce as these scholarships are only for the first five years of the program. Anyway congratulations to all those who have been given an offer for NYU@NUS.

Any idea if NYU@NUS is conducting an orientation program in India. Someone told me that they had conducted one for the 2008-09 batch...don't know for 2009-10.

Adi invincible you should find yourself lucky to get repeated offers of 35000 scholarship from NYU@NUS...most of the others received a much lesser scholarship ($10000) this time as opposed to the previous times..I did a reasonable amount of research and my opinion is that NYU@NUS is as good as NYU@NYC...Infact it seems one and the same if you dont consider the fact that you are not studying tn new york city and that you get an extra NUS LLM at the singapore programme...I would not leave this course for anything less than NYU@NYC itself...The only question I have as of now is weather to abandon my job which is at a big 4 auditing firm for any LLM at all

Well, I've made up my mind....I'm gonna take a risk and wait for the other decisions... I will decline NYU@NUS's offer of admission and the US$20.0000 dean's award...

Pisces, I believe you should take up the offer if you believe that it would enable you to attain further heights in the domain you practice. As far as NYU@NYC is concerned, I believe the admission there is tougher compared to NYU@NUS. I also applied for LLM in IP there but have not received an offer for that despite having IP as my domain of practice and my resume clearly reflecting that. Another thing which I observed in 2008-09 about NYU@NUS is that people with average academic background were awarded the Dean's award to the value of USD 35,000...which leaves a bit of doubt in my mind in respect of the recognition the program enjoys in the legal fraternity. Anyway, no doubt the program is much better than the courses offered by the institutes in UK. Two years back I had a scholarship from LSE but I turned down the offer as there has never been much scope for foreign lawyers in the UK.

Have all the results for nyu@nus been announced? I had applied quite early for the programme and had applied only to nyu@nus and not nyu@NYC if i remember right....

...I am yet to recieve any kind of reply from them....i was wondering if they have started giving out rejections yet, just so that i know if i still stand a chance....

Hi Adi Invincible...I dont agree that NYU@NUS is not that selective in choosing their students...Because a lot of us who got admitted to NYU@NYC are also given the option of choosing NYU@NYC...As far as the scholarship goes, my thoughts were in the same lines as yours...Upon doing a little research I'm convinced that it is only reasonable that the students faced with this option need an extra reason for choosing Singapore over NYC because a course like the NYU@NUS definitely stands the sheer disadvantage of being new..And with the extra incentive it looks very attractive from mine as well as a lot of others' side...I dont know about you adi but the average scholarship from NUS is constantly reducing with every year and i doubt if they will continue it in the coming years..Your credentials must be really good to be offered such a large scholarship in 2 consecutive years

Hey Maximus - I am in the same predicament and contacted NYU. Acc. to the reps of NYU decisions are made on arolling basis through January and all is not lost yet.

Hope they let me know the acceptance/rejection at the earliest..the wait is killing

all those waithing for a decision from NYU, lets keep the faith. I noticed on some discussion board on this same cite that last year some people got their decisions in March. so it looks like its a long wait.

Just to clarrify, I was referring to the NYU@NUS early admissions.
I have completed my application in November and am yet to hear from the admission department. I just wanted to know if the lack of a response implies a rejection from NYU@NUS given a large number of offers have been made.

Rah 84, i was also refering to NYU@NUS. There are some people in the 2009 intake who got their response in March. so i guess a lack of response doesnt mean a rejection. you will be informed of the decison regardless of whether its an offer or rejection. so just keep the faith

Rah 84, I second what Zambian says. The process of deciding upon the applications goes on till March. Even those who have recieved the offer have not been given any details regarding the calender, estimated costs for 2010-2011.

This board has been too quite? I'm guessing nobody has heard anything since the first wave?

So i just called the office. She made it sound like most of the results have been sent out by the end of january and the rest would be throughout "this month".

I've been keeping a close eye on this discussion board and if this is a representative sample then I would say one of two things is possible:

1. The class is already full and we have no chance. She would not comment on this.

2. More likely, in my opinion: The first offers were made the first week of January with the deadline to commit on the 22nd. Now, they are redoing the whole process for the next round of applicants.

Finally, based on how much i've been obsessed with this website, I get the impression that many have declined their offer for NUS and are waiting for other schools or would prefer New York. Thus, I may be blinded by hope, but I still think there is a chance.

Are there any candidates that have JD's from the United States? I went to school in the US and I feel like I'm the only one according to this board. I want to work in Asia and as they said advised for the JD program: go to school where you want to work....So for those candidates that want to work in the United States, I am curious as to why you want to go to Singapore (not trying to say you shouldn't!)

Maximus, the information i gave you was based on one of the discussion boards. check the 2009 discussion board for offers recieved @ NUY@NUS. There were people on that board who got their response in March.so i guess it can apply to us. i also havent heard from them. i only got an email more than a month ago that my application was complete and submitted to graduate admissions, and since then i have not heard anything.
I read on their website that they inform even when you have not been picked, so my guess is that if you havent heard from them, then your case is still being considered

Guys, anyone has received any info regarding the administrative matters. I recd a mail giving an overview of the same on Feb 11 but there has been no further intimation in this respect. Anyone who has recd the e-form for the student pass application. Also any idea as to in how many tranches the fee has to be paid to the university. Further, anyone making arrangements regarding accomodation...can someone comment on it.

I enquired of the office of NYU@NUS and spoke to the representative there. She told me that the tuition fee etc. are yet to be decided upon and shall take the first week of May or so as and when the representatives of both the univeristies meet up. She advised me to keep a buffer as of now. Great don't know how much to arrange as of now as even a hike of USD 2,000/- shall be a bit too much especially when the arrangements are to be made in the home country. Also the fluctuating excahnge rate shall be a bit worrying as to excatly or tentatively quanity the first tranche of fee.

even i am clueless about this thing... we all are still awaiting for the eform for the student pass application... i still dont have any leads on the appartment. will mail it to u if i found someplace good.. i remember it vaguely that fees had to be paid by end of april... it was mentioned on the colll website somewhere... no idea as to how we are supposed to pay the fees? and if they are going to meet in may to discuss the fees when are we supposed to come to sg coz it was mentioned on the site that we have to be in sg by 4th may. this surely is alarming... i hope that college comes up with a sound explanation soon....
