Come on, you got into Uppen that it much better ranked!!These processes are pretty standarized sometimes, maybe you got rejected just because they've already received many applications from your country.

Don't think so. I was accepted, but none of my recommenders received a thank you e-mail. I think it is a good sign for her.
Don't get her hopes up. It means nothing. If you go back and read the thread most people report the emails. A few foregin students apparently didn't get. But you'll see most go out BEFORE the app is complete and under review. Mine went out before Georgetown got my transcript and completed.
And it was another month before it went under review and I was accepted. It means nothing except when they can Georgetown sends thank you email. Maybe if they come electronically from LSAC that's the differential on why some get sent and others don't. Of perhaps its the particular LLM program. But there is no established correlation. You got in... No thank you's , I got in thank you's.
Sorry I say meaningless.
I respect your point of view and agree that I shouldn't get her hopes up, but is there anyone whose recommenders received the "thank you" e-mail and didn't got in?
Still, it is just a part of the reviewing process, maybe they just reviewed the recommendations and sent the e-mails as a part of the process...

My recommenders received this e-mails a few days before I received the acceptance e-mail. I think it means, at least, that they are reviewing your application and soon you will get a response.

I agree with Fernanda but I share the same feeling as you. I was accepted by GULC and CLS, but my application to Upenn was deferred to the regular cycle. Quite disappointing...

okay.. let us not debate about this anymore.
I just wanted to know because I had no idea that this happened. And also no other school has done so before.
My application became complete on the 3rd. So atleast they are going through my file now.
Thanks a lot guys :)

I understand you and I really wonder how do they make decisions. In my case, i think I have more a strong record in International law than US(of course) and corporate law...So I do not understand! But I am very happy because Upenn has a good ranking, Ivi league and good reputation!

Anybody currently "Under Review?" They should be making decisions today.
Anybody else received a decision today?
Good luck!

Congrats PMC for your Penn Law admission. That is a top Law school. Can you kindly share your profile and app complete date. I also have applied to Penn Law with an International Law profile so it will be interesting to hear from you.

Thanks for responding, tburtn88. Are you domestic or foreign-trained? You certainly made the Early Action cycle under either.
For what program did you apply? Tax?
Because you went Under Review finally, I hope you hear soon! Best of luck.

Sure thing. Domestic. I applied to the tax program. I have heard outstanding things about the program; definitely a top choice.
Thank you, I hope it works out!

hi everyone,
I'm a foreign applicant and my application to Georgetown was complete on December 21, 2012 - I was just wondering if anyone else who applied around that time has gone under review/got a response yet?
I'm really hoping to hear back soon, as I have a deadline to reply to another school and I wanted my Georgetown result before making that decision. (Fingers crossed!)
Good luck to all of you

I did and I got a response too saying I'm waitlisted. So hope for the best :£

Thanks ShivaniJ :) if you don't mind me asking, what date was your application completed?
From what I've read on the forum it seems like they put applications under review in batches every thursday/friday?
