I applied to the securities regulation program.

I have a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in law from the University of Iceland. We are not big on rankings here and I'm not sure how my grades translate, but the LSAC transcript evaluation was Above average for my BA and Superior for my MA, which they count as a first degree in law.

As for work experience: I've been working in one of Iceland's largest banks (to be fair there are not too many banks here, but still ;) ) for 5,5 years, 2007-2009 during summers and part-time alongside school, and then full time since Jan. 2010. I started in the bank's centralized Legal advisory unit, then switched and have been working in corporate restructuring for a couple of years now. My main focus areas at work are corporate and financial law, contracts and also a bit of competition law. I am a member of the Icelandic Bar Association.

I got a 111 on my TOEFL and am fluent in Icelandic, English and French with good knowledge of Spanish and Danish (don't know if that matters, but I put it on my CV anyway).

Since I understand many U.S. schools are big on extracurricular activities I focused on the fact that I've been singing in a choir for 20 years and have done some years of singing lessons. My personal statement and my CV reflected that fact and also that I've been doing some tours abroad with my choir for the past few years. I don't know how much this helped me but I figured it was worth mentioning since it might help make people remember my application more....or something along those lines :)

All of you who have applied to Georgetown, did you apply to other schools as well? If so, which ones and have you received offers from them or an indication as to when they will be sending them out?

Best of luck to you all!

I did not apply to Berkley but my friends who applied to Berkley got their admission last week...

Does anybody know if Columbia will start informing admissions only by the end of December?

And I thought I completed my applications in advance.. I participated in berkeley's virtual information session 3 days ago, and they didnt say anything about making decisions..
This is all making me very very nervous!! Hope to her from them soon... and hope that Columbia also starts informing admissions earlier!

fgiuliano -- to you know whether your friends applied to the professional or academic LLM?

As I told you, I didn't apply to Berkley and I don't know how their programs are. However, I know that my friends will do the full time LL.M. Is this the academic program?

With respect to CLS, I am living in NY because I am working as an international associate at a law firm here, I went a couple of times to CLS and they told me they will send the admissions only by the end of December. Anyway, I would like only to confirm that nobody got an answer yet.

Don't be nervous! Everything is gonna be allright!

I applied Early action, I wasn't expecting a decision until Dec. 14 since that's what it says on their website.

Good luck to all of you still applying and/or waiting for you decisions!

My application was complete on October 22, and since november 1 it went into "under review" status. General Studies Program.

Another curious fact: Georgetown sent an email to one of my recommenders also on November 1th. Basically, they were thanking this recommender for his letter. Do every University do that?

And what is the deadline they have given you to accept their offer? I mean, given that more law schools will start to answer February-March, it is a long time to have the Georgetown application in stand by right?

I am applying to Georgetown regular circle.

The e-mail didn't specify a date, but this is taken from their website: "Our Graduate Early Action option is non-binding. Students admitted Early Action will have until the same date as Regular Action admitted students to decide whether or not to attend Georgetown."
