Congratulations to those admitted! My status went to 'under review' today (IBEL, was marked as completed on 11/14). Hoping to get the same quick turnaround as you guys.

I received an answer the day after my application went "under review". ;)

Which program are you in?

I might have understood your post wrong, but i got a sense that you mean the program and the admitted students are not that strong, specially when compared to other top schools, but that it compensates in terms of networking. I really hope I got your post all wrong.

Dear All,

I am a current LL.M. student, and congratulations to all admitted students.

Just generally, they appreciate different and rich backgrounds, and it's one of rare top schools that might give admission to relatively lower grades if you can "compensate" it with other assets.

And if you hesitate between Georgetown and other top schools, just keep in mind that being in DC is priceless, since it gives you countless opportunities. LL.M. year is not only about the education that you get, but also (and in my opinion even more) about networking.
And also in terms of program size, before I came here, a lot of people criticized Georgetown for its program size and they kept telling that I should go to a school with smaller LL.M. program (like UVA or a couple of others). But it is very important to be able to meet people from different countries, because it will give you very nice contacts. We have people form 70 countries this year, and all of them are coming from different yet great backgrounds (big firms, companies, governments, etc.).

Best of luck to those who still wait for an answer!..

General LL.M., what I meant was they are considering the applicants as a whole, not "only" based on their grades (or one particular criteria)

Hello,

Congrats to all of you who were admitted !
I had just a question regarding the TOEFL requirements. Did you all met the requirements in each section?

Hey! I miss one point too in a particular section and I still applied. However, it would be helpful if one of the "lucky ones" already in were in the same situation and gives as their insight

My application was complete on October 22, and since november 1 it went into "under review" status. General Studies Program.

Another curious fact: Georgetown sent an email to one of my recommenders also on November 1th. Basically, they were thanking this recommender for his letter. Do every University do that?

Hi aero,
It happened the same thing you mentioned above to only one of my recommenders. He got a thank you email ten days ago but not the others. Did you get any answer from them? My status is not yet under review (LLM in International Legal Studies) although my application was received on Nov. 14.

I think they do that for some people. In my case, this recommender was a really important authority in my country, so that is maybe why they sent that email.

That makes sense. In my case, the recommender is a partner in the law firm I work with.
