hi everyone,

I'm a foreign applicant and my application to Georgetown was complete on December 21, 2012 - I was just wondering if anyone else who applied around that time has gone under review/got a response yet?

I'm really hoping to hear back soon, as I have a deadline to reply to another school and I wanted my Georgetown result before making that decision. (Fingers crossed!)

Good luck to all of you

Hi ushma! My application was completed the same date december 21st and I got no response yet :(

I think they must be reviewing domestic students now. They are still in the Early Action process for domestic students and they have to send out decisions by Feb 4th. Perhaps they'll get into the stack of foreign-trained students at the same time or they may wait until Feb 4th when they get through all the domestic Early Action applications.

I'm domestic Early Action and I'm not Under Review yet.

Good luck.

Application Complete: 07-Jan-2013
Under Review: Not Yet

Domestic Early Action--Decisions by 04-Feb-2013
LLM Tax Law

Stil waiting . . .

They're probably still working on domestic late December applications.

Anyone go "Under Review" this week? I haven't seen a post from anyone who went "Under Review" this week. Maybe the MLK Holiday / Inauguration on Monday slowed them down?

Hello everyone!
Just got an email from Caryn Voland, Director of Graduate Admissions, offering admission to Georgetown's 2013-2014 LLM Program. The title says: Congratulations from Georgetown Law,
I am very happy with that.
So far, I was admitted to Duke and to Georgetown.
Cheers!

Answered my own question :) I knew I had to be on the top of the pile as soon as they resumed.

Complete: Nov 15
Under Review: Jan 10

And admitted Jan 11 :)

Received an email entitled "Congratulations from Georgetown Law" at 2 in the afternoon.

Program: Tax

Academic stats: Domestic student, top 40%, T3 state school, B+ in Tax 1 and Tax 2.

Tax work: Involved in two different tax clinics.

Other work: Significant prior employment managing millions of dollars of accounts for major corporation. I have no tax or accounting background whatsoever. Older students, take hope for "career value!"

Worth noting: My school sends at least one student a year to GULC's tax program.

Did you also apply to NYU Tax LLM? Are you waiting for that decision or definitely going to GULC?

Congrats again.

I won't be of much help to you--I have just applied and I am a domestic student. What I heard in a teleconference that they held is that they admit a class of about 400 students each year to the LLM program and about 200 are domestic; 200 are foreign trained.

I think they do consider work experience. Especially if the work is related to the LLM specialty.

Being a domestic student, I don't know how to judge your credentials. Several foreign-trained students have been admitted so they may be of more help.

What speciality are you thinking of pursuing?

Good luck.

CSJ, I'm for sure going. I didn't apply anywhere else. (I would have applied to Florida if I didn't get into GULC.) Working in D.C.'s been my dream for 20 years and it's finally happening :) I hope you hear soon!
