Oxford BCL/MJur 2017-2018 Applicants

Is it a terrible choice not to choose a preferred college? I didn't choose in my application. Does anybody know how would the college be arranged then?

I did not choose a college but was offered by Oriel (an old college ranked 2nd at the norrington table) which turned out to be a good decision since they have available funding which matches my profile. I read that the university does try to match you with available funding as much as possible so that's what probably happened in my case?

Thank you. I didn't receiv anything. It's Dphil in my case, don't know why that's the reason.

Hey guys,

I checked the Clarendon Scholars list from the last 5 years, and I didn't find anyone from the MJur :(

There were like 4 from the BCL.

Have they made the Clarendon offers to law already? I read from TSR that someone from humanities received an offer a few days ago

No, I'm very sorry I wasn't clear. I mean that I checked the scholar lists of 2011 to 2016. I see no list of this year, so I think the scholarships haven't been allocated yet. But my point is that the MJur students may not be a usual target of the Clarendon panel :(

I hope you are admitted to the BCL.

What is TSR?

Since Law is under Social Sciences (the funding decisions are made at the departmental level) I was wondering if the Social Sciences department already met to discuss the scholarships. Anyway TSR is the student room. It has an official thread for Oxford 2017 offer holders -- https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4287404&page=47

Hey guys,

I just heard from Balliol: rejected. If someone was successful in his/her selection of Balliol, could you let me know your profile?

Maybe I'm not their target. My areas of interest are: international dispute settlement, arbitration, mediation & negotiation.

Hello. Congratulations to those who've been accepted this year.
It would be great if you could share what you think were the strong points in your application.

I would be applying for the 2018 academic year. So far I fall within top 5 per cent of my class. If another person from my university is also applying for the course, would that mean that apart from meeting the first class honours+top 5 per cent criteria, I would also have to have a better score than them so as to be considered.
