Last year they did and as far as I know some (few...) of the people included in it got late admissions. Also heard that this year they got a record number of applications from outstanding students, so they are seriously considering opening up a few more slots. These are the good news.
The bad news are that I e-mailed the graduate admisions office a week ago and they didn't responded yet. Last wednesday I sent another e-mail stating the urgency of the matter, since most of us have proposals from other top-ranked schools but don't want to blow a chance to study at Yale next year. (In my case, I got proposals from Chicago and NYU and am still waiting for Harvard...). They still dind't answer. My guess is that they don't care that much about those of us who still have a slight hope of being admitted, and that seems to be a pretty bad sign...
However, don't loose your hopes.
Good Luck to all of you.

I will be rejecting Yale's offer, so there will be at least one spot open.

Can I ask why you have decided to reject Yale? It's such a great school.

Hi degreemaniac,
Yale is an amazing school and it was a hard decision. My decision is mostly academic, and partly personal. Academic reasons - the environment at yale is much like where I am working as an academic now. I wanted an experience that was totally different to what I was use to. Also, my research interests are better served at Chicago (where I have decided to go). I like the teaching style and philosohpy at Chicago too. Finally, in one way, Yale is very competitive between LLM's, because all are going there to be academic, so everyone is competing for the few SJD places and fellowships etc, I want a more communal and collaborative experience.
Finally, personal reason is that my hubbie has a very good offer at Chicago in his area, one too good to refuse, and I had to weigh up whether Yale (or any other school) could value-add so much more to Chicago that I would chose to live apart from him in a strange country (or he would take another, less good offer), and it just wasn't the case.
Sorry for the long post, thought it would explain my rasons, a few people have PM'd me to ask this, so hopefully this explains.

I have a question to all those who have been admitted to YLS. As Yale has put me on their waiting list I would like to know what deadline they set you for accepting your offers. Can anyone help?
Posted Mar 24, 2006 13:10
Hi,
Has anyone received a rejection notice from YLS? Or does YLS only notify those who have been admitted?
