Ok it seems like this thread has been hijacked a bit. This thread is for domestic applicants of NYU who have submitted their application but have not gotten a yes, no, or waitlisted response.
This also brings up another question of mine though. Are we all going to be accepted or rejected, or is there also the waitlist option for us.
And secondly, if I dont get accepted by 5/14 I will have all my grades for this semester. Think it would be good to submit them to NYU?
Waiting to hear from NYU

setho: do you know when is the second deposit for NYU due? I'd think if we are informed after the second deposit deadline, then it will be accept or reject b/c at that point, they already know how many ppl will attend so what's the point of putting us on waitlist?
i will be sending in my trasnscript when it becomes available. i am thinking that's probably one of the reasons why they are holding up on our app.

I have no clue when the second deposit is due, but I am slightly confused as to how that is relevant. Actually I am more confused about the whole NYU admissions process. Obviously if NYU is holding our applications until June or so does that mean their whole system is just 2 months behind everyone elses? In essence does NYU not inform domestic students of waitlist status and just hold onto their applications until they get accepted or rejected?
Once I have all my exams complete I am going to call them and ask them if they would like an updated copy of my transcript. I anticipate that they will probably say no initially as they do not accept any more documents once the file becomes complete; however, maybe the adcom will request the grades.
As for your application Shoortie, it is absolutely ridiculous that you applied in November, received a request for your fall grades, and still havent received a decision by now. They must really be on the fence about you. What were your stats like?

setho: i worked at my undergrad's admissions office before as a student worker. at least for that school, they didn't bother to place ppl on the waiting list after the second deposit is due (this due date is the same for all applicant; but if you are notified after this date, they give you 2 or 3 weeks to respond). that's why i asked if ppl know when is the second deposit due for most admittee at nyu.

Setho: Thanks for your reply..Am a foreign applicant...
Savece: Guess they would intimate the final decision by e-mail.

Thankfully NYU is a little more modern than Georgetown and I can pay the deposit online so I will doing so later on tonight!

Still no word from them for me as of today. Thought I might get home from my last ever law school exam (which was tough-Mergers and Acquisitions-geez Professor) and get a surprise. Nope. Nothing. Earlier this morning, I emailed Georgetown informing them I was not coming there and to request the refund of my second deposit. As of right now, I'm headed to Florida.

Is an email sufficient for Georgetown to get the deposit back? When I saw that it had to be in writing i assumed a hard copy letter. You might want to call and ask.

I called and asked them yesterday, setho. They said it was ok.

Texas:
I'm kind of in the same boat as you, waiting on NYU and deciding b/w UF and Gtown. Why did you choose UF over Gtown?

Joker:
I chose UF over Gtown because Ive talked to a lot of tax attorneys and tax professors, and most of them told me that at worst they were seen as equals, and most likely UF was seen as better. I admitted to them that it was hard to get out of my head the notion of the premium name of Georgetown in general law circles over Florida, which of course is true. They all told me however, that if you want to impress your aunt, sure, that holds some water. But if you want to impress the people who are going to hire you-tax lawyers-the Georgetown name is NOT premium over Florida in tax circles. Now, it is my opinion that its a matter of preference and depends on you-i.e., they are basically interchangable, depending on you and your needs. If you want to work in the Northeast, go to Georgetown by all means. But if you want to work in the South or Texas, go to Florida. For me, cost was also an important factor, as Ive got loans undergrad and law school already, and want to keep it down as much as possible. I think it depends on where you want to work, more than anything.
