UVA 2013-2014

Mates, I just got the email to confirm the acceptance into UVa, though I was confused by the email caption reading Class of 2014 at first.

Sincerely hope we all have good luck later on!

Hi Atticus, if you are full time, you'll graduate in 2014, hence, Class of '14. You probably figured it out, right?

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Positive, I've figured it out. Thanks a ton CSJTax! Good luck to you!

None from my side.

I was wondering if anyone who requested a deadline extension received an anwser. In my case, they simply have not replied to my request...

In a related question, have any of the admitted made the initial deposit that UVa requested?

Im awaiting my deadline (February, 15th) get closer in order to made the initial deposit, I believe I dont have any other choice.
Unless I receive a response from other university, which I think wont happen until late February...

I have a doubt regarding this matter: can we make deposits and later not accept the offer? I mean, does the deposit mean that we accept the offer and thus we must withdraw other applications?

I dont think so. The other Uni will not even know about the deposit that you made.

Hi mate, I wonder what you've done to UVa's offer. I recalled the enrollment deadline you mentioned, same as fgiuliano, was Jan 15...

Hi Mr. Finch, I have done nothing, to be honest. I asked for a deadline extension, but they did not respond to it yet.

It is possible that UVa's offer is not good anymore in my case, since I have not made the deposit. They asked for two deposits, one in Jan-15 and other on Feb-15...I applied to a number of programs and I figured that I would not receive many answers by Feb-15 so I decided not to make the deposits.

I only did this because Duke also made me an offer and they gave me an extension, so I have at least one place granted. If not for this, I would have made the deposits to UVa, no doubt.

Hi mate, I'm nearly on the same gear as yours, though I don't even have any AD decision from Duke Law. I reckon it's all because that seems none of the T6, which I guess almost all applicants with credentials like you and me would apply to and have some extent of hope, will release their AD decisions within Feb. My approch is, as instructed by another fortunate candidate who also soon turned to feel unfortunate, to revert the confirmation form on time, but not to pay the deposits, hoping they will still keep my position while they might keep on pushing you to pay the deposits. Let time resolve this dilemma, if possible.
Good Luck!

Hi guys!

Did anybody pay the acceptance fee? Last week I talked to the dean responsible for admissions at UVA during the job fair in NY and the conversation was very good.

The corporate program at UVA seems to be great and they offer all the subjects that are required by the NY BAR. Also, living expenses in Cville are very cheap and the university's life is great!

I am concerned because I was admitted also to UPenn and UPenn offers the Wharton program. However, I think UVA is the chepeast choice among the top-10.

Does anybody is in the same situation as mine?

I was admitted to UVA and CLS and, between those two, I will probably choose CLS, even though the costs are waaaay higher (and I will do so because of ranking, number of admitted students, city, etc). Between UPenn and UVA, I would probably choose UPenn because of the Wharton certificate, which I think is very unique (and there is also the plus of being an Ivy School). Actually, UPenn is one of my top choices and I am still hoping to be admitted. Any of these programs are pretty expensive, so I will just go with the best fit for me, unless one of my top schools offers me a scholarship or something like that. I dont think the price difference between UVA and Upenn "compensates" the upsides of the Wharton certificate + Ivy.
Are you still waiting for other schools decisions?

I don't know! This is a very hard decision! Both schools are great and also they are both located in two amazing cities. I have friends that are studying in both schools and they are loving their experience.

I applied only to few schools. I declined of my application to CLS in December. Now I am waiting for Stanford and NYU.

I am also waiting for Stanford and NYU. Do you mind sharing why you declined CLS? This might help in my decision ;)

I applied! I finished my application ON Feb 1st, just a few minutes before midnight and submitted it :-). Living on the edge -- it happens when you have children.

I went down to Charlottesville, met with the associate Dean who is lovely! Hopefully, I will get in.

MexLLM2013, excellent question! Until now I was admitted to UVA and Northwestern LLMK and I dont know which one to choose... The tuition for LLMK is much more expensive (USD 72).
