Hi guys! I also got a message of approval from uva law! I was very delighted and surprised when I received the email.

But, one of the postings here has mentioned, they suggested me very early day of Feb 15 for the deadline of my acceptance. As the date is rather early considering other schools, I would like to ask them for the extension of such deadline, favorably to the end of March.

Has anybody here asked the uva law for such extension and been answered? I am little worried that they would have a bad impression on me if I request such extension.

I have asked for an extension, without specifying a date.

I have not heard back from UVA yet and my deadline is on Jan 15...

However, I have also asked for an extension from a Duke's offer and they granted it to me!

I don't think such a request would make you look bad. I mean, the worst that can happen is that your request is denied - this will not change the fact that you were approved.

Thanks Atticus! I got the email of completion on Dec 11, 2012. It was only about four weeks ago and that's why I was surprised to receive it. Good luck with your application!

According to your case, probably uva law usually do not respond to such request for extension..

By the way, do you know the meaning of "Tuition deposit will be forwarded at a later date." in the Graduate Program Candidate Response Form which you may have received as an attachment of the email of approval? I wonder if I could only accept the offer of admission without sending them the deposit.

Now I am starting to get worried about their enrollment deadline, which ends by February 15th. This is too short in comparison to other schools!

Not at all! I've completed my application on December, 13th and I've received my offer today, January, 7th. They were pretty fast.

I applied on Dec 6th, but I just noticed that I never received the "application complete" e-mail. :O
I guess I should send them an e-mail..

Why wouldn't you just accept Columbia's offer and that's it? :-) I would do that if I were you.

Mates, I just got the email to confirm the acceptance into UVa, though I was confused by the email caption reading Class of 2014 at first.
