NYU LLM 2018-2019 Applicants

I wrote to NYU last week asking for expedited review and got admitted the next day - so there’s still hope!

Then I hope to hear anything from them soon. I did the same thing with Columbia and they gave me my admission offer the next day also, but NYU remains silent. Fingers crossed!!

Haha, funnily enough I’ve had the opposite happen (asked for expedited review from Columbia and still nothing). Though if you’re good enough for Columbia I’m sure you’ll get NYU!

Not necessarily! I have a friend who has been admitted to Columbia but rejected by NYU...

Hi all,

Anyone still waiting to hear about admission? Feeling a bit despondent about not having heard anything whilst NYU is giving scholarship money to those who have already been admitted.

I sent a message to NYU last week letting them know that I had other offers with upcoming deadlines, and their response was along the lines of: we make decisions all the way up until early May, if you have to make a decision before then, there's nothing we can do.
I'm still waiting to hear back as well. I'm a bit confused because they make decisions up until early May yet admitted students have received an email stating they need to accept their place by mid-April.
I think this is because they don't operate a waitlist. They wait for decisions to be made by the first round of people who they admit, and then based on the number that either accept or decline their offers, they admit x number of those people who are "still waiting to hear."
Oh ok, that makes sense! It's been excruciating waiting to hear back.
Same here! I wrote them last Friday requesting the expedited review of my application since I already have another offers and enrollment deadlines around the corner, but I didn´t receive any response from them until now.

Have any of you heard about any similar situation that ended up with a positive admission decision from them??
When did you write them and when did you receive their response? I wrote them on friday and they are still silent. That’s super weird because they revert very quick.

I have just written to admissions asking if all financial aid decisions have been made already. As per some posts around here, it seems like both Hauser and Vanderbilt have been distributed, irrespective of the program...

Did they say that? I made an inquiry and they said more financial aid decisions will be rolling out.

That is good to hear I guess! I sent my email 10 minutes ago (1620 CET) so no answer yet, obviously ^^ I was referring to the fact that there is at least one person who claims having received Hauser and another who said they have a friend who got it. As for Vanderbilt there is a few persons in this thread who have mentioned receiving it too. NYU has not said anything to me at least and no one has brought up an email saying that they were done, yet.

FYI - this week all the admitted students of my country had a meeting with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions of NYU and he told us that for this year the 2 more popular programs are the Traditional and the Corporate, both with around 100 admitted students. The International Taxation one may vary between 18-28 students, the Legal Theory around 15 students, etc. Additionally he encouraged people to apply asap to accomodation since for example units for families are less than the number of applicants who want those ones and many people going single (or not with partner) to NYU applying for 1-bed units, probably will end in a 2-bed shared apartment. Hope this information is helpful.

Does this mean the admissions are final now and those who have not heard dont have much possibility of a positive reply?

I do not know. Since we were just admitted students, nobody asked about it.

I don't think decisions are final. They have a rolling admission process and I believe that from now until the deadline to enroll (April 16th) plenty students will decide and some of them will attend other schools withdrawing their application to NYU, so probably there will be a few more notifications. I saw that this week some students were notified, so don't lose your hope!

But did you by any chance received the "automated" answer before the final one? Just got the standard one too...
