Hi guys, just go for it! I´m not applying for it, so you have one competitor less... I guess your point should be simple: many of you have other admission offers and even scholarship offers. Just put this issue on the table...

Hi, Ivan
Do you mind sharing the reason why you are not applying for it ? Do you know if it is grant on a need-basis, rather than on a merit-basis ?

Hey LLM Brazil, the reason I won´t apply for the scholarship is that I was awarded a full scholarship here in Spain. It could make sense to apply for it if I wanted to put it in my CV as an additional merit, but I really prefer that this scholarship is awarded to someone who would need financial aid otherwise... In respect of the criteria that will be applied by them in order to reach a decision, I should confess that I have no idea at all... Personally, I think it´s used as a way to make the best students confirm they are going to NYU instead of Georgetown, Columbia, Harvard or somewhere else...
Um abraço,
Ivan

Ivan2006,
You have a very good point. If I was in your position (and I wish I were !!!), i would act the same way.
If I get ways to pay for it, we'll get to know each other in the fall !!

Yeah, I guess in Brazil the only scholarship program available is the one sponsored by the Fundaçao Estudar, which certainly is a pain... I am Brazilian too - born in Sao Paulo -, although it´s been a long time since I left the country. And how about you? Where are you from?
Posted Mar 27, 2006 00:15
I'm from Rio de Janeiro. Graduated from Puc-Rio as of December 2004.
I'm aware of the scholarship sponsored by Fundação Estudar, but it seems to me that it just very hard (not to say impossible) to get it.
