I applied later than Nov 1 but have received my 2nd e-mail. my application was on paper too. I think the posts earlier indicating that files are being reviewed by country (rather than time of arrival at HLS) is somewhat accurate :)

Trust me people, those still waiting for the 2nd email are those who are going to be accepted initially and most likely to be accepted initially. I know this through His Grace, so don't ask me to explain. Just collect your names on this board and see who tells us first in only 6weeks.

If you're in this group rejoice and Praise Him: for, the last shall always be called first.

I thank Him for his vision. Amen, Amen, Amen.

I have not received the 2nd email yet. What about you people from Latin America? Argentina, Perú, Uruguay, Chile?

I am from Latin America, too, and I have not received said e-mail yet. Frankly, I am not utterly worried, as I think that is a mere formality that was lost along the process, maybe due to the significant amount of applications they have to handle. Unless anyone tells me otherwise, I think we can be at ease.

A guy I know, who actually worked in HLS a few years, told me that people see one year LLMs as a safe harbor in economic crisis times. I guess that people in big Law firms or in-house corporate lawyers prefer to resign or take a one year leave before taking the risk of getting laid off.

what ı wonder is how those people manage to take the decision of applying to LLM, prepare their application files etc. at such short notice. The crisis began with Lehman in around september, no? I know that there are a number of people that saw it coming but I do not think that most of us lawyers are able to do that, especially junior associates, which I would assume are usualy the ones heading for LLMs. So how can they decide to apply for LLM (which I think is a major decision, especially if you have a job) prepare application files and submit in such short notice (i.e. october-december1)

The crisis has commenced much earlier with the mortgage crisis in the USA. I remember last year in January I had to explain the crisis at that moment for a summer internship.

By june, when I decided to apply, the crisis had begun already; although you are right that the worst came after september.

I am from Argentina and I've only received one mail saying that my application is complete and being reviewed. I don't think there's a need for a second mail. I'm starting to get worried though since everybody's talking about a second mail. I hope the next one I get is from the admissions office

Guys I have to concede, this crisis happened because of me!!!!
Yeah you all heard it right.
It something like with me, whenever I want to do something constructive, the whole universe conspires that I fail.
This time I decided to apply for LL.M, and good god there came the crisis. With so many applications I don't know where I'll land...................I hope even if I have to crash, I do it in HLS.

hey superpibe, that email that you received is the second e-mail that everyone is worrying about. you actually didn't receive the first email, which says that they already received your application. but since you have the second e-mail, then the first e-mail is moot (since it would not have been deemed complete if they didn't receive it!). don't get anxious! you're better off than many here, having received the second e-mail.

so, when did you receive your "second email"?
