If this makes you feel any better, the Brazilian post service ("Correios") also sucks! They almost made my HLS app. late, by delivering it near the deadline - although I have posted it relatively early... So, I decided to use Fedex when sending my SLS package.

Applied in mid november and finally received the second e-mail today... now I know my app is complete. Does anyone knows if they contact you by email before sending ordinary mail? I certainly hope so because here in Colombia ordinary mail is a mess...It would be possible for me to receive any notice in late march...but 2010.

@finlawyer and @franziskaner - HLS will actually send a notification email first (as discussed in http://www.llm-guide.com/board/13230/3) and chances are, we'll be here celebrating on this board around late march!

Thank you for your concern. Actually the explosion was a couple blocks from my place, so it was pretty scary; but thank god, nothing happened to my family or anyone I know. It's a very happy surprise you care guys, I really appreciate it.

Are they examining the applications based on geographical applicant origin???

For sure they are reviewing geographically. I have seen in other threads that latinamericans receive notifications in dates very close to each other. And this HLS email confirms it.
