I am from Israel, graduated from a good law school in Israel. I really hope it will help me, since my experience is one year tops.
What school have you applied apart of Cornell? Maybe they wanted you to gradaute earlier and that's why you got waitlisted.

I am from India. Graduated from a very new but good school. I am hoping to get in tooo! Let's hope we will be classmates in the near future! :)
I had applied to NYU but there was such a delay in me getting my decision, I don't know why. And unfortunately, here we do not have the option of graduating early. Also I applied quite late last year. As I understand now, that has an effect on your application since they have rolling admissions.

How late did you apply last year?
I think we are pretty similar in our experience and education, so it would be interesting to see how well we do at the admission decisions :-)))
What legal field do you wish to pursue?

I am pretty interested in Public Int'l Law. It is really a prominent issue in Israel and the area, I think it will be useful and interesting for me to concentrate on that. Maybe I will try to go for Law and Economics area to, but the course extent of the LL.M is so limited, that I don't think it would be smart to do both.

Oh thats great! I hope u put that in your personal statement!
You can always decide what other courses u wish to take up after u get a sense of your work load!

Actually I did put that in my personal statement, I am just not sure whether it is a positive or a negative thing to write in the PS. My first paragraph was all about how I personally experience the conflict in the Middle East. Maybe it will do an impression and maybe not, I hope I did not screw up with it.

NYU does not have rolling admissions!!!!
As for Chicago, it says in their website that decisions are made on a rolling basis:
"Although the application deadline is December 15, candidates are urged to submit their applications as soon as possible since applications are considered in the order in which they are completed. Our experience has been that the most promising candidates generally apply before the end of November. Any applications received after December 15 will be considered on a space-available basis only. Consideration of completed applications will begin in late November, and most candidates will receive a final decision by mid-April, when a standby group will be created."

I don't see how its a bad thing. And its a strong personal factor which is playing a part in what u want to do. As far as I have seen, colleges look for such things. Apart from a lot of others, ofcourse. I

Just got an e-mail from Richard. I guess that was a general e-mail and not a specific one.
@Chicagollm - is there an oppurtunity to do an S.J.D at Chicago University to students who start their LL.M?

In my experience Chicago application has a human touch to it. You will get numerous emails from Prof. Badger until the day they send out the decisions. And if you do get accepted then you will get more email later which will be like Chicago and the LL.M program 101.

Yes they can apply for the S.J.D by fulfilling all the requirements.

Can you also summarize the whole experience at Chicago, the studies, the professors, students, the university overall... and so on.

Please read the information provided on this page http://www.law.uchicago.edu/jsd-program
@idodee You would need to me precise in your question. Not sure what your status is - if you have already applied then wait until you have all your decisions in hand and then we can speak about where you would want to get enrolled. If you have specific questions then please go ahead an PM me.
