Hey guys, as I said I got rejected by Chicago, is there anyone who got rejected but was offered admission by NYU or Columbia or some other schools?
Thanks

I'm sure there is, because Chicago only has 70 LLM places, which is significantly smaller than other unis such as NYU (which I thought offered around 400 places) and Codlumbia. So don't give up hope - it doesn't mean you won't get accepted elsewhere.

I am !
Last mail from Richard was on March 7th and said that the 2nd standby update would come in about a month. It should be any minute now but I am under no illusion...the probability that an admitted student with the same background refuse his offer is incredibly low. Besides, Richard might just tell us that he does not open the standby group.

Let's hope he doesn't!

Just to let you know, I declined their offer few days ago.
Good luck!

As per the second e-mail update for the Standby Group, new offers could be made on April 18th or 19th. Anyone received anything so far?
Posted Apr 19, 2013 15:46
Nop...but Richard did not say that the standby group would actually be opened - only if the last 28% did not answer positively. I guess that they are reviewing some applications since we didn't have any e-mail stating otherwise. Do u think we might get a final update tonight (in Chicago) ?

That is what I am expecting...what I could verify from previous posts is that, in the year that they didn't open spots for the Standby Group, the Dean did not send this second e-mail. So I am guessing that this year there will be offers of admission for the Standby Group...

On the 1st message, he wrote: "The next message I will send you will be in about a month. I will send you all a message describing our situation at that time. If we are in a position where we think we can offer admission to some Standby Group candidates, I will ask you to indicate if you are still interested in coming to Chicago."
Since he did indeed ask us to indicate if we were still interested, I believe they will be offering admissions to the Standby Group.

I agree. But I don't give it too much thought. We are not ranked, the probability to get a spot is like 0.1%.
