From Taiwan, I am in, too.
I've got admitted for Northwestern, NYU, and Berkeley, but wailtlisted by Georgetown and Upenn, currently waiting for Stanford, Harvard and Columbia's decision.
(Duke sent me a letter saying they can't decide to offer me a place and I could tell them if I am interested then I can be wailtlisted, which is a little bit weird.)
But I think Berkeley could probably be my final decision because I might go with my family, and of course the nice weather, friendly atmosphere. See you guys soon.
Any Taiwanese got admitted, too?

you should wait for the Harvard decision.

What are your interests? I would choose the law school considering your specialisation. Georgetown would be nice because several important institutions are there (e.g. IMF, World Bank, embassies). berkeley is strong in IP.
NYU has the benefit that has got the best ranking. At the NYU, you can take classes at Columbia, too.

Where do u have the information about NYU from? All friends of mine that have studied at one of the NY top unis told me that they havegnot been able to take classes at the other institution. But I have read this before...so I am not sure, if this has changed...

Got the offer email from Berkeley a few days ago :-D so I wont be considering UCLA anymore. Got rejected by Columbia and Stanford. Put on a waiting list by Chicago. Still waiting on Harvard, Yale and NYU. UK graduate.

I am admitted and from Taiwan, too.
But I am troubled.
Because my wife is rejected,
She got admission of NW.
I am in the Waiting list of NW.
We like Berkeley absolutely.
Warmer and closer.
Has anyone some feasible solution that we don't need to wait for additional year or be separated?

I would call NW and explain them the situation. I think, chances ar great that the admitt you. If you wait for the Harvard decision, other admitted people will decline the NW offer. patience and good luck!

Hi,
Nice to hear from someone from Taiwan got in Boalt, too.
I think somehow we all face different kinds of dilemma recently.
IMO, a deferral may not be the best solution because the reason you plan to defer is sort of your choice of free will , but not a situation that you cannot avoid. Anyway if you want to defer, you should write a letter asking Berkeley if this reason is legitimate.

And I assume you don't have babies yet( cause you did not mention). So you should still consider one year of slight separation.I have been married, too. I know this must be difficult. However, I think you still can arrange, for example, the flights between Chicago and SF every month to keep you two together.
And the other important reason of my point is: both of you should have well prepared to going to the US to study. PsychoIogicaIly speaking, this year is the best timing for both of you to study abroad.
