Why? Isn't San Francisco a lot more expensive than Chicago? I would have thought Chicago was a no-brainer, especially given the class size, faculty and general prestige (at least insofar as the law school is concerned)?

Berkeley is cheaper than San Francisco, but I don't know how it compares to Chicago. It does not mean it is little money, though.

Setting aside the weather comparison that weighs heavily towards Berkeley (and, believe me, you'll remember that when Chicago winter comes down on you...), I think people in California are warmer and the environment of the LLM class is more cooperative instead of competitive. This, coupled with excelent faculty, makes Berkeley an outstanding place to spend your LLM.

But I had a hard time deciding it (including Columbia in the equation to make things even more complicated), and I'm pretty sure Chicago is an outstanding school.

In the end, I chose, among great schools, the one that would make me more comfortable in terms of personal preferences. And that's what I recommend you to do: where do you picture yourself at? Take everything into account, not only rankings. Although most of your time will be consumed by books, assignments and exams, there is more to see and do during the LLM.

So I should assume that those that have not received any e-mails from Berkeley are not on the "admitted list" ? Although I know that it also depends on the completion date, my so far experience tells me that good news comes first...

I have also an offer from NYU, i'm aiming for a mixture between constitutional law and IP and telecommunications, any toughts on which school to choose?

I heard Berkeley is probably loosing Goodwyn Liu which should hurt its constitutional faculty..

Seems as though they sent out admissions first, waitlistings and rejections afterwards. Got waitlisted. But they weren't my first choice anyway, so no hard feelings.

Have the same trouble deciding between Berkeley, Chicago and NYU. Any information on when is Berkeley willing to send out financial aid decisions? Would that be before April 5 in any event?
