Hello everyone!
I have a big dilemma - I received a full scholarship from the University of Westminster and a partial scholarship from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. I am interested in the field of Business/Commercial law and I know that the quality of Tilburg University cannot measure with Westminster. However, I am leaning more and more towards the full scholarship and life in London as opposed to life in the small city of Tilburg. Also, I come from a small country where people don't really know about the quality of foreign law schools and maybe it is better to have an LLM from London in my CV once I get back home.
I would like to hear some opinions from all of you.
Many thanks in advance.
What would you do?

if your mother tongue is englisch - you may go to tilburg if you want to - because then there is no additional benefit in going to london.
If it is not - i would prefer london.

I'd go to Tilburg University... Westminster isn't a very good university anyway (my opinion only!).
PUCCA, I have now officially outposted you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tilburg is not the most multicultural of places
It's a fairly small city in southern Holland....grey, not too many places to go out and lots of houses that all look exactly the same!
Holland would be cheaper to live in but it probably won't be cheap enough to justify the loss of the full scholarship

If you can afford the loss of a full scholarship, go to Tilburg.
Westminster is not highly regarded university in the UK and has no international name.

Westminster is a former technical university and not a good place for LLM. May be it is better for you to choose a college from University of London.

I see a lot of different opinions here, thank you guys so much for your input!
Everything you're all saying is already what is going through my mind now... and btw, my mother tongue is not English...
I've been to Tilburg and it is really grey and boring, but the University looked great and I really like their Business Law programme...aaaaa, still can't make up my mind...
The outstanding amount which I need for Tilburg is cca 7.000,00 EUR, which is a lot...and I have the opportunity to save that money and live in London for a year with no additional expenses...

This scholarship of yours, can't you put it off for one year and try to get a place on a better programme in London? I don't want to sound like an utter wanker, but Westminster really doesn't seem such a good idea to me... I'd rather wait...

No, it can't be deferred, I already checked it. At the time I was applying, I wasn't even considering going to London for a year, (it was something like a "back-up") and now, I am so into it, I would really like to live in London...
Why are people on this board so against Westminster? I am not so into rankings and all, but there are some pretty good teachers...and I am planning on returning to my home country after doing the LLM...

i don't think it is an anti-westminster bias, but rather the fact that it is not a traditional target-school in london for most on the forum..

I agree with Good Gosh...
I dont know where youre from, but I reckon most recruiters in your home country will not be very much into Westminster graduates. It may indeed have great lecturers, but in my humble opinion LLMs are basically about reputation of the university you attend (at least from a law-firm-bound-career perspective). Im from Brazil and I can tell you for sure that here nobody (and I really do mean nobody) in reputable law firms (apart from prospective LLM students) has ever heard about Westminster and Im pretty sure no Brazilian has ever enrolled on their LLM programme
And if your anti-Westminster reference is to one post that popped in a few days ago (saying that Westminster was the best place on earth to be at), its not that Im an anti-Westminster freak trying to bring it down at all cost, but youve got to agree with me that that specific post looked utterly ridiculous fake to the fullest. Obviously fabricated by someone aiming at getting some free advertisement It could be about any other university in the world, the way it was put into words sounded fake and fabricated, at least in my opinion.

Well, if in your home country things are as you say, then I don't think you've got an issue anymore... go to Westminster and take the most out of it that you can!
Best of luck!!! Maybe we'll bump into each other in London...

I realise that its September now but I would NOT GO AT ALL TO THIS UNI!!! i went there this year and it is the BIGGEST waste of time ever!!! I felt so exploited and the teachers were extremely lazy and unmotivated. I have also heard that the Entertainment law programme is one of the worst. GO to a well known school.

Amayasoul,
can you please be more specific? What did you study exactly at this Uni?
