Tilburg Law School offers seven English taught Master's programs.
LLM International Business Law: Digital Innovation in Commerce and Finance
One-year program, starts every year at the end of August
Examine the role of lawyers in a business environment where new technologies and the call for socially responsible businesses change the way in which we conduct business. Become a creative lawyer who operates as a transaction engineer, facilitates new forms of business, negotiates deals and assists start-ups. Learn how to apply human-centered design to prevent or solve legal problems. International Business Law (LLM) examines how digitalization affects business law. You can choose to do this program online or on campus.
LLM European Law and Global Risk
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August and in the end of January
Focus on European law in relation to global challenges like climate change, trade, migration and the decline of rule of law. European law is a leading force when it comes to addressing societal issues in Europe as well as globally. Apart from the global impact, expertise in European law is crucial for any lawyer, because it impacts all aspects of domestic law, from business to social welfare. This is a track of the Master's program in International and European Law (LLM).
LLM International Law and Global Governance
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August and in the end of January
Learn to navigate a world in which rules and systems of governance are becoming increasingly informal and transnational. Gain a versatile and focused view on international law and global governance by investigating the impact of transnational business, migration, and global security on human rights, sustainability and environmental law, and international law and relations. International Law and Global Governance is a track of the Master’s International and European Law (LLM).
LLM Law and Technology
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August and in the end of January
Technology affects our society in many ways. It can be used to regulate society, but it also needs to be regulated. In this program, you investigate how technology, law and society affect and shape one another. You will become a legal expert in the regulation of technology, as well as regulation by technology. Law and Technology aims to answer legislative questions related to a technology-driven society. You can choose to join the program online or on campus.
LLM International Business Taxation
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August
Combine legal and economic knowledge to become a tax expert specialized in international business. Gain the academic skills to fully understand the impact of taxation in combination with new technologies on a global scale. The LLM International Business Taxation is a hybrid Master’s program, which gives you the opportunity to join the program either online or on campus.
LLM Labour Law and Employment Relations
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August and in the end of January
Integrate labor law, social policy and human resource management to take a European perspective on the international labour market. You will combine knowledge of these different fields with a modern skill-set, which will make you a highly sought-after professional in the field of employment relations. In the Master’s Labour Law and Employment Relations, you learn to solve complex legal and policy issues that arise in an international market with free movement policies for employees and companies.
MSc Public Governance & Strategy
One-year program, starts every year in the end of August
The leaders of today and tomorrow face immense challenges, such as climate change and energy transition, refugee crisis, transnational organized crime and urban inequality. Involving multiple actors and operating at global and local levels, these challenges require innovative solutions. The MSc Public Governance & Strategy combines public administration, economics and law to lay the foundation for a career in government or the private sector, in the Netherlands or abroad.

The Law School
Tilburg Law School was founded in 1963 and has quickly earned its place among the leading Law Schools in the Netherlands and Europe. It has a consistently high ranking in national reviews on legal education and in peer reviews (students and staff), and are particularly commended for the quality of staff, the structure, variety, and depth of programs, the informal classroom setting, and the quality of support facilities (ICT, counseling, university campus).

Entry Requirements
Tilburg University
Each application is assessed individually by the program coordinator and the admission committee of the Faculty.
In assessing the applications, the following considerations are decisive:
- Candidates must have a university-level degree in law (exceptions are possible; see the individual program's websites).
You must prove your proficiency in English by submitting the results of one of these tests:
- Academic IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for each section.
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test; we do not accept the revised paper-based test.
- The TOEFL institutional code for Tilburg University is 9860.

Please request ETS to send us your test results via the ETS online database before you submit your application.
- Please note: we do not accept the TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP)
- Cambridge English test results: C1 advanced (formerly CAE) or C2 proficiency (formerly CPE). For both C1 and C2, we accept a score of A, B, or C.
Please note
- The test results must not be older than two years at the time of application.

We do not accept a combination of test results on different test dates, e.g., TOEFL's 'My Best Scores'.

From the September 2022 intake onwards, you must be able to prove your English language proficiency at the time of application. Without test results your application can not be processed, unless you are exempted.
An English proficiency test is not required if one of the following applies to your situation:
- You hold a passport from one of the following countries:
Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America.
- You have studied your entire Bachelor's or Master's program in one of the following countries:
Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America.
For all other countries and situations, the English language test is compulsory. No exemptions from this requirement will be made other than those mentioned above.
Application Procedure
Tilburg University
Tilburg Law School uses an online application system, OSIRIS Aanmeld. After filling in your personal details, you can upload your application documents in this system. Tilburg University doesn't charge any application fees.
Application deadline for August intake:
- 1 April for all non-EEA/EU applicants
- 1 June for EU/EEA applicants
Application deadline for January intake:
- 1 October for all non-EEA/EU applications
- 1 December for EU/EEA applications
After your application is complete, your application will be assessed to determine whether your academic background meets our admission requirements, based on your application documents.
Within four to six weeks of the start of this process, you will receive the Admissions Committee's decision by e-mail.
