I agree the email seems odd. It doesn’t have any of the usual university headers/footers also. Which have always been present in any other comms I’ve received...

Just got this answer today :
Thanks for your email.
We can confirm the survey is genuine. The questions are different to the survey you would have received when submitting your application - this new survey focuses on your experiences before deciding to apply to the University of Cambridge.
We hope you are able to take the time to provide us with key information to help us improve communications with future applicants.
Kind regards

Hi guys! I am an LLM Cambridge alumni and I just want to tell you that these survey e-mails are normal and almost every applicant received it because they solely want feedback on their application process etc.
Also, I received LLM conditional offer in 2017 quite late - around 1st week of April, so guys sit tight and try to relax for quite some time :D

2017 was an aberration. Applications usually progress to the GAO/BOGS stage by February 15-25, and informal offers are sent across by February 25-March 5.

Hi Guys,
I was just looking at lasts year's thread and it appears some people got word of rejection by Feb 7th and people's status' changed from 'under review by department" to the 'degree committee review' stage around Feb 18th. Based off of this we should expect word either way soon I would imagine. Has anyone received favourable or not so favourable news thus far?

Still Under Review by Department. I really hope something changes this week. Although I suppose no news is also good news...

I was going to post exactly the same thing hehe. I read the 2019-2020 thread and as you mention, some people got their status updated around 15th-16th Feb. So I think maybe we can see some update on our applications next week.
Lets keep each other informed, in case the application portal changes the status.
Goodluck!

Confirming my portal status is still "under review by department" at the moment.
I spoke to a friend of mine who applied (and got accepted) in the 2019 / 2020 intake. He didn't receive any notification of acceptance until early March.
So not sure how likely (or reliable) the indicator is that we would hear by mid-February. At the moment I guess no news is good news for now.

I received an email today from the LL.M. director....
'I recently reviewed your application for October 2020 entry. I was puzzled, in particular, by some points listed in your employment history on the application form / in the appended cv, and so before taking any decision about admission, felt it important that I give you an opportunity to clarify the position.
As I say, my purpose in writing to you now is to give you an opportunity to explain and clarify as necessary, in order that I have a clear factual basis on which to consider your application. Since I must move shortly to finalise the admissions decisions, it is essential that I hear from you as soon as possible.'
I have since replied to the email and addressed the discrepancies, all of which are minor.
But what do you guys think? personally I think it is very positive.

Was it a discrepancy as to dates or ? I think it sounds positive and hopefully decisions will be released soon !

Wow! Maybe we can hear from them sooner than expected?
Posted Feb 13, 2020 16:49
Well if they take the effort to email you about it, it shows that they are definitely considering you. If they didn't think your application was strong enough, they wouldn't bother emailing you about a few minor discrepancies, which to my knowledge doesn't happen very often.
