Man this is frustrating. Guess it’ll be next week at the earliest. From what I understand the first step involves your status changing on the portal? Anyone able to comment on the process?

From what I understand from previous years’ posts, your status will either change to “awaiting approval” by the GAO committee (in which case there’s a good chance you’ve gotten in) or it goes straight to rejection. But yes, you should see the portal change before any email notification.

From last year’s thread there seemed to be some people who received an email notification that they had been accepted but their status on the portal still hadn’t changed from ‘Under review by the department’, and stayed like that for a couple of weeks even after they had gotten a confirmation email.

Who knows if it will follow the same pattern this year however...

I have a completely different query. Does Cambridge prefer applicants with work experience? I have approximately 2.5 years of work ex as an antitrust attorney. Just curious.

On their website they say that applications as assessed based on academic merit so I am not quite sure!

I do know that, my point being if they prefer people with work ex more or not over and above academic merit. Does that play any role at all.

No, as far as I understand it they don’t prefer people with more work experience over those with less work exp but higher academic grades. The academic merit is the most important thing. Obviously work exp will make your app stronger, but it won’t make up for being well below the academic threshold.

To be honest I do not think so. According to last years thread most offers/rejections were made in the week commencing 17th (onwards). Fingers crossed

I received an email after applying to complete a survey, but that was a while ago. Have not received this recent email as of yet. What is the survey about and did you receive the other survey email a few weeks ago ?

I received the previous email just after applying as well.

This is the mail I received today : "Dear applicant

Thank you for submitting or beginning your application to the University of Cambridge. The University is always looking to improve the postgraduate application experience it provides. To help us achieve this, we would love to hear your feedback on your journey towards submitting or beginning your application for Postgraduate Study at Cambridge. The results of this survey will be shared with Graduate Admissions and Student Recruitment teams."

Thanks for sharing! It’s unusual that all applicants have not received this email isn’t it ?

Yes, I might contact the GAO to make sure that the email really came from them before answering.

Another strange thing is that the mail also states that "Surveys submitted by midnight on Friday 28 February 2020 will be entered into the prize draw to win x3 £50 Love2shop vouchers."

That is unusual indeed! Can I ask if you submitted the previous survey? I submitted it so that may explain why I did not receive this email. However, if you submitted the first survey my explanation is wrong.

Hi!

I did get a request to fill out a survey with the e-mail of "application submitted" back in November, and today I got a new survey. But maybe its spam, because the e-mail doesn't seem right and the part of Love2shop is very sketchy.

Could somebody perhaps private message me a screenshot of this email if you don’t mind ?

The e-mail that sent it does not seem an e-mail from Cambdrige. I think its fake.
