LLM Cambridge 2020-2021

Well if they take the effort to email you about it, it shows that they are definitely considering you. If they didn't think your application was strong enough, they wouldn't bother emailing you about a few minor discrepancies, which to my knowledge doesn't happen very often.

I agree that it is a good sign! About hearing soon, I feel that as this application is still with the department a further 10 days at least must be added on to this date according to the website for the degree committee review before we will hear a decision?

Going from previous years, applicants seemed to receive offers over a period of days/weeks. So might be the case that applicants are clustered on strength with some applicants hearing back quicker, with some other applications hearing back later if longer consideration is required? Who knows! But I’ve the feeling we won’t hear anything until later rather than sooner...

I received an email today from the LL.M. director....

'I recently reviewed your application for October 2020 entry. I was puzzled, in particular, by some points listed in your employment history on the application form / in the appended cv, and so before taking any decision about admission, felt it important that I give you an opportunity to clarify the position.

As I say, my purpose in writing to you now is to give you an opportunity to explain and clarify as necessary, in order that I have a clear factual basis on which to consider your application. Since I must move shortly to finalise the admissions decisions, it is essential that I hear from you as soon as possible.'

I have since replied to the email and addressed the discrepancies, all of which are minor.

But what do you guys think? personally I think it is very positive.

Hi idk of positive... can you give us some more details about the discrepancies so we can better assess? At least they said will make decisions soon!

Not yet, but I would expect some movement this coming week based off of last years thread.

Based on previous year's thread, I hoped they would declare results starting third Friday of Feb, which happened to be on 14th. At the most I believe the results should be out by Monday (17th Feb).

Last year, most applicants received their offers/rejections on the last day of February according to last year's thread. Hopefully we wont have to wait so long...

Do you think there will be delays in sending out offers/rejections due to the strike action starting on Thursday ?

So I gave my response to the email from the LL.M. Director...

All were just minor queries regarding the CV

For Example:
- how long were you in that role?
- you stated a future date for your publications, can't find them have they been delayed perhaps?

I then got this response from the LL.M. Coordinator...

'Thank you for your reply.  The LLM Director will take note of the information you have provided when assessing your application.

Yours sincerely'.

I've never known anybody to get an email directly from the LL.M. director regarding the contents of their CV. I can only speculate that they are/were inclined to give me an offer and wanted to verify the contents.

Hello thanks for clarifying! Your interpretation is possible but could also be that they just want to check these things aren’t made up before considering your application? Made up publications / roles would result in automatic rejection so makes sense they would want to clarify first. The reply suggests that they are still busy assessing it too. Many luck though I hope we hear soon!
