Hi guys,
Does some of you know if it is necessary for someone that is already in the U.S.A. and has to change the visa status to a F1 go to her/his home country to be interviewed?
If someone is in the same situation or has some information, please, share with me.
Thanks all!

Hi. I am not in a similar situation but I have a background in immigration law. F-1 visa is a multientry visa. It means that you can leave and come in the US as many times as you want. The only thing you need is to go to the International office of admission from your University and tell them your situation. Probably they will ask for your former I-20 and within three weeks they will give you a new i-20 signed by the director of the International office. Thus, the only thing you have to watch is to get a new I-20 to come back to the US.
I hope it is clear...

Thanks Francesc for your reply but now reading my post I think it was not clear.
I am currently in the USA holding a L2 visa accompanying my husband, who holds a L1 visa.
I have provide all the documents to the Admissions Office expalining the situation. I also can work thanks to a Employment Authorization issued by the INS.
I am not sure if they will change my current status by issuing a student visa. My only doubt is if it will be necessary for me to leave the USA and go back to my country to have my passport stamped by the American Consulate there in case of my status being changed to a F1.
If you have some information about it I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

You should try to ask the international office at the school you are applying to, or possibly call/e-mail the American Embassy in your country. Or you could call your country's Embassy in the US.

Thanks Hannenyh! You are right. No one is better than the admissions office to clarify my doubts.
I just tried here because, maybe, someone else could be in the same situation or know something about it.
