Got admissions letter from NYU this morning but no scholarship. With a planned focus on corporate law, I am now having the hardest time choosing between Penn Law and NYU. Penn's WLBC program from Wharton is really attractive, but being located in NYC, NYU seems to have far better employment prospect after graduation. Though living in NYC will be a one of a kind experience, but I will move to the States with wife and kids, so significantly increased living costs of the City become a genuine concern.
I definitely will have to investigate into this extensively (and fast! before the 4/1 Penn Law deadline, which has been made clear by Penn that there is no chance of extension), but I wonder if any of one is faced with the same dilemma and how you weigh your choice between Penn and NYU. I would really appreciate an open exchange.

weberwang,
I've been in Philly for several years w big intl firm. Philly is actually an awesome city and UPenn and Wharton are world famous. I have a family here; the city is "walkable" w lots of stuff for kiddos. I grew up on the west coast and had heard that Philly was pretty rough. After a couple visits, though, I was totally in love! Hope this helps.
I know this is coming- I've been stalking this post for days: I am a US grad, applied to the NYU tax llm program in Nov., my requirements list has not changed, and I'm still waiting on NYU (grrrrrrrrr) w a deposit at another school due next week.
Ps- congrats to those who have been admitted- regardless of whether you got a scholarship, or not.

How many days extension do colleges normally grant for the deposit?
I'm thinking (with so many univ results still pending) to wait until just a few days before a college deposit deadline and then request for an extension. Maybe that way try and get in atleast 2 weeks in hand before I can take a final call? Would this be advisable?

I feel your pain. I've been waiting on NYU for several months too. What makes it worse is that I know someone who got into the Tax program in January!

ps1187,
I know, so frustrating and I know they get a ton of applications- but, seriously, it's just f'n rude at this point.
The person you know who got accepted- was he/she a domestic student? T1 JD? Practicing atty? Thanks and hang in there.

Hi! I got a call this afternoon informing me of my admission and also an offer for a Hauser scholarship. They called my land line in Venezuela. I applied for the International Legal Studies program. I don't know if its positive to contribute to the application-going-blank thing, but for those interested, it went blank yesterday. Best of luck to all!

wtfnyu,
T1/T2 (we fluctuate) domestic JD -- a classmate. I'm just really afraid of putting down a deposit elsewhere and THEN hearing from NYU, but I suppose that's what I'll do if I don't hear back by the end of next week. Good luck with the anxiety!

Hi everyone! I received a phone call today offering me admission and a scholarship (my list went blank yesterday, although I doubt that means anything). Good luck!!

Congrats to those successful applicants and to those who received a scholarship!!! Amazing achievement and I am sure very well deserved.
I don't remember now which post I read this in, however someone posted that the universities are in financial difficulty and using the LLM as one of their highest sources of income. SO leaving many of the scholarship offers and offers with financial aid until the end. Perhaps they are trying to fill their quota with full fee paying students as best they can....?

Any domestic applicant who applied to the tax program receive a decision yet? Or requirement list has gone blank?
I was admitted to domestic tax program in the end of last month (applied on Jan. 31). I asked the program about tax scholarships because I didn't see any in the email/package. Apparently, they are reviewing scholarships on a rolling basis and they hope to let me know by April.

Not me. I don't know whether we are going to expect to hear anything by March 15th since we're not international students. But, if anyone knows otherwise for domestic students, please let me know.
That's what I was thinking too, but some of the other programs have April 1st deadlines to submit a deposit so I'm desperately waiting to hear back from NYU so I can make MY decision.
I received my acceptance email on March 3. Application was complete January 30.
