Might as well start a thread so when I check this site neurotically, I'll have a place to look :-)
It appears that a number of us have applied to NYU. From past years, it looks like NYU Tax releases decisions earlier than NYU's other LLM programs. Anyone heard anything, aside from receiving a complete email?
Did anyone apply to NYU@NUS? Seems like those decisions come out around this time.

I have applied for International business regulations and arbitration. I think its too early for the decisions to be out.

^ Hello! Best of luck to both of you.
I agree it's too early for most decisions but according to last year's posts, decisions for NYU@NUS came out in December and Tax decisions were reported in January, too.

I applied to the International Legal Studies specialization. Has anyone applied for the Hauser Global Scholarship?

Best of luck to you also.
I didn't apply for scholarship.

Hello all.
I'm freaking out here. I got an e-mail today from NYU saying that they want my fall grades for this semester. What does this mean?
I'm worried b/c law review kicked my butt this year and I have had less time to study for finals than I normally do. I'm concerned my grades won't be up to par and that this will result in an unfavorable decision for me.
Anyway, here's my stats:
Top 50 Law School
Top 11%
Literary Citation Editor, Law Review
Tax Experience: Research ASsistant for Tax Professor first summer, Tax Firm second summer, IRS Office of Chief Counsel, Intern this fall semester.
Only tax class: Federal Income Taxation (A+ - CALI Award for Excellence).
I thought for sure I was a shoe in w/ my credentials, but now I'm freaking out. I am dying to get into the NYU program.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to get gradewise this semester for them to accept me?

Hey,
Are your fall grades available? If they are, just send them as soon as possible.
I guess this means that they may have started evaluating the applications. This is serious!!
Keep positive!

Clarity, would you mind sharing when you submitted and when you went complete?
You obviously have a good GPA so one would think a drop in your GPA would still put you in contention.

clarity, i received the same email (couple days ago). fall semester grades (it may be customary for current students, but who knows.) my profile is quite different--not so much the grades, but a top school with interesting experience. i also applied to the nyu@nus program..

@ always.
I submitted October 1, and went complete October 15.
Took em about two months to get back to me. Now it will take another two months since I have to send my fall semester grades. Not happy.

@ Clarity - Thanks for the dates. I'm sure you aren't thrilled, I know I wouldn't be. But it may be a really good sign, actually, it means they've looked at your application and consider you competitive. I went complete before you so I'm not sure if it's a good or bad sign I didn't receive the same request, or if one is going to appear in my inbox in the next week or in January.

@ Finnis.
Thanks for sharing. Yes, I am also a current student. Looks like maybe they are working backwards? It sounds like you went complete after Clarity but received the request for fall grades first.

it could be, @alwayswaiting, but i believe clarity and i received that email around the same time. in the alternative, it could be that they are prepared to issue you an acceptance, or God forbid, a rejection, without your fall grades being considered. (clarity and i may have been put on the equivalent of a waiting list). but, time will tell.

There are so many possibilities, I need to stop speculating before I drive myself crazy!

I believe the final part of my application (letter of recommendation) was submitted electronically today. But the consensus is that it will still take a couple of weeks for my application to be deemed complete?
I completely empathize with all those waiting impatiently. I thought I was finished with school after I finished law school. It's very strange to feel this kind of nervous excitement again.

@crescent, yeah, it will probably take a couple weeks for them to deem your application "complete," i.e., when the administrative people receive your completed application for review. after that, who knows what process they undertake.
i completely agree with you about the nervous excitement dimension. very strange, isn't it? 4L... (if you're a US student, anyhow..)

Welcome to the waiting room Crescent!
It's been funny for me this exam period. I keep telling myself "just one more set of finals after this." Then I stop and go, "oh, and then one more year of school."
But that's okay, I'd much rather stick it out one more year and (hopefully) get a job doing what I want to do.
