Hi guys, i started this thread to find out more about the people who will joining NYU this Fall, we can also help each other about things like housing. Any ideas on which is good on-campus or off-campus housing?

Hi guys
I already submitted the deposit...so I am gonna attend the NYU for sure :D I will join the General Studies...
Regarding housing, I am thinking about living on-campus as I currently live in Chicago and I know how hard to get to school during cold winter. So I prefer living close to school. Anyway, if anyone have better ideas about place to live and actual situation of living close and far from school....please share your ideas....
Thanks

Mint.. I have also sent my deposit so I am attending NYU for sure. But I thought the on-campus housing was a bit expensive...but staying close to school is priority...so I agree with you on the on-campus housing...but I dont have funding so I am trying to cut costs thats all...looking for alternate options

if i don't hear from CLS in a couple of weeks, i'll be joining you too...(International Legal Studies Program / no funding / pretty sure it'll have to be on-campus housing)

I will join you to NYU for sure...I wanted to go to DC, NY or Boston, and I think my goal was achieved~ I wish I could get on-campus housing, but things won't be easy for me since I am going there with my wife and two children...most probably I will reside in New Jersey...Did anybody hear about some pleasant residence area in New Jersey where NYU can be easily reached? I heard about New Port or something, but cannot just locate this place in the map!

I looked at mercer house and it works out at about 2000 dollars a month for a small room. thats not very cheap.
when I was an intern in NY, I lived in New Jersey, in Weehawken. its not the nicest place in the world but you can get the bus into town - 30 mins to port authority, and my rent for a room in a house was only 500 dollars a month.

Hey, also admitted to NYU onto the ILS course but most likely will reject it because its FAR TOO expensive - then again I'm in two minds as to whether it would be worthwhile considering its the best law school of international law.
How many of you guys want a job in a NY law firm after your LL.M? As I will be coming back to the UK to start working for a magic circle firm so there is no added incentive to pay such high fees especially when NYU doesn't give fin. aid apart from a limited number of scholarships.

I also will not work in the US after finish from NYU. Moreover, my job does not much care of the repuation of the school I graduate as far as it is an accredited school. However, as I currently got offer from 2 schools, USC and NYU which are almost the same expensive....I prefer to pay for NYU at this point.

Hi guys, its great to hear all your views, I plan to work in teh US after I finish my LLM to repay the loan i would be taking and also to gain experience. Does anyone have idea about job prospects after LLM in ILS from NYU? I think this on-campus housing has $500 deposit and May 15th as deadline, someone also strongly reccomended on-campus housing to me...but if a few of us can get together as flatmates we may probably be able to reduce costs and also try and stay close to school. thanks

Gevurah: I live in Newport with my husband and a 2 year old daughter. Its nice here for family and NYU is like a 20-25 mins door to door commute. Let me know if you want more details and I can send you a PM or email. BTW, I 'm also joining NYU - Trade Reg (IP concentration).
Sublaw and Scotty: I am also from India, New Delhi. Let me know if you guys need help in housing in the Newport, New Jersey area. Maybe you guys can pool in and live together there unless you have a preference to live in New York City or have families.
