22? How many years are your law degrees? Or do you get your LLM before you have an actual degree?
Ours law degree is 6 years, and we can't start till we are 18-19 years old.
I'll be 27, but not at NYU!

Our law degree is 5 years (Portugal). I started when I was 17. Most people in my country are 18 when they start.

Oh wow. I guess we just start late. Usually guys are 20 when they start the university because of military service.

Our law degrees are four years and we start right after high-school (at the age of 18). It's a shame isn't it. However, Dutch students on average take 6 years to complete this 4 year degree, as no-one wants to graduate at the age of 22. The average law student in my country spends about 24 hours a week studying (I am not kidding, this is the common figure based on extensive surveys!!).
Why?
It's probably the fact that the education is almost free and that employers don't care that much about grades.(extra-curricular activities are considered to be more important) Also, law (unlike medicine for instance) is not a very prestigious study. Rather, if you come from high-school and you don't know what to study, you go study law. But there will be a nice job waiting for your anyway.
BTW I just turned 23. I went backpacking for a year after high school and than started law school. I will be graduating this spring.

Maybe my last post sounds a bit too negative. I should say that many student use their time also to do a lot of other things. E.g. start living on their own, become members of student-associations and have a good time!!

I guess it's a good thing to start early and only have 4 years of school if you want to do i.e. an LLM afterwards. Or if you want to study something completely different. I am just a little "shocked" to hear about law school in Netherland. You don't get good jobs with bad grades in Norway. Our schools are free too, but you have to work hard to get in, and you have to work hard while in school. All 6 years ;) ... or 7 for me ... plus my LLM .. that will be 8 years in school... ouch!
