They still haven't made their decisions as regards the LLM Programs. Decisions should be taken next week.

Hi,
I just received a answer from Stanford.
They want a phone interview this week.
I'll keep you posted.
Stanford (LLM in Law, Science and Technology) is definitely my first choice.

Hello Guys,
I am very keen to apply to this program next year. Any insights from you about their admission criteria to this particular program would be great. Since the class size seems pretty small, do you know the ratio of applications to the number of admitted students? Also if you guys had phone interviews, what is their primary focus on in interviews?
Thanks alot and I look forward to hearing from you guys soon!

Hello,
To my knowledge, the rate of acceptance is about 7% in the graduate program altogether, i.e. SPILS and LLM included, which makes even less for each program... Being enrolled in the SPILS, I can't tell you about the issues dealt with on the phone.
I just know more or less for sure that they focus more on your academic profile for the SPILS, and more on your "business" profile for the LLM apparently.
Just let me know if I can help.

Hello Bitsou,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Do you know of any other schools offering LL.M programs which are similar to the one that Stanford offers in Law Science and Techology?
Thanks and I really appreciate your help with this.

Hello Rio, hello Flo
Riu: Apart from Stanford, Berkeley offers a very nice LLM program in IP Rights. The range of courses you can take in this field is very wide. Apart from Berkeley, you have Harvard with the Berkman Center which mainly focuses on New Technologies issues. Columbia and NYU also have excellent professors and range of courses in IP rights. A last one could be Duke; the Law School has one of the best IP scholar in the US (Dan L. Burke) but he's nearly the only one to teach IP, so that the range of courses in this field remains small.
Flo: I don't belong to the Graduate Commitee so that it's difficult to tell you :) However, to be honest, I think it's extremely difficult to get admitted to the SPILS just after graduation. You probably either need a few years of experience or a few publications to have a chance among all the applications received. This being said, I of course may be wrong and it's always worth trying, especially if your subject is of an obvious interest on the international level and has hardly been dealt with in the past. Who knows in the end what makes the difference ;) ?
Just let me know if I can still help you.

Alon, Stanford does not offer an LLLM in international trade law. Within the Stanford Program in International Legal Studies (SPILS) you can choose among the follwing subjects:
* Law, Legal Institutions, and Civil Society, including such areas as the sociology of law and legal practice, rule of law, human rights, women's issues, and the dynamics and reform of domestic, regional and international legal systems.
* Law and Political Economy, including the transition of legal systems, law and economic development, privatization, deregulation and economic institutions, international trade and finance, comparative corporate governance.
* Law, Advanced Technology and Intellectual Property
* Environmental Law and Sustainable Development
* Criminal Justice, international and domestic.
* International Conflict Resolution, including law and diplomacy, negotiation, mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) design.
