LLM as non-law grad. Doable? How hard?

LexLegum

Hello,

Here's my situation: I have a business background (banking) and didn't complete a law degree (I completed a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in business).

I have always had a certain fascination for, or attraction to, law. My work involves at least a slight touch of law: some compliance, due diligence etc.

Out of sheer curiosity, I applied to a business and corporate law related LLM I thought interesting at a pretty highly ranked London uni (think LSE, UCL, KCL).

Much to my surprise, I got in. However, now I'm scared of my own courage.

I think if the school admitted me, they must be convinced that I would be able to complete the LLM. Still, I wonder: as a non-law grad, will I even be able to understand the material? Or will I not even have a clue or the slightest idea? How hard will it be?

I believe you're right to suspect this might prove very challenging for you. LLMs are for lawyers and people who have deep knowledge and/or experience in the field. The curriculum and material assumes a great amount of legal knowledge and for someone coming from the outside, it won't make much sense.
