Guys,

Last wednesday I went to Harvard Graduate Admission Office to get some materials and get further info about the program. I have been living in Cambridge for a month.

When I was there I saw pictures and the curriculum of some LL.M candidates on the wall. They told me that they were analyzing those who were on the wall then they can choose some for the program.

I remember some names, mainly candidates from Brazil because I am from there too and I believe that they will choose some candidates from that wall. I guess...

So, if you are from Brazil and wanna know if your name is there, please say your name and I will try to remember. Again, I am not simply saying that you gonna to be admitted because your name is there, however, i think it is something.

Hope it helps.

Where was this type of information openly posted? I'd think they'd want to keep the selection process much more opaque. Did you happen to see any Americans on this wall?

@ RGotlib - I can be wrong, but I believe that those photos are from the current LLM at HLS. They are named LLM candidates because they are pursing such degree. Those are not the ones that (like us! =D ) are waiting to be accepted in the program. In other words, we (at least me) are trying to become a LLM candidate... But besides that, what did you think of HLS? Pretty cool right?
=)

supranote1,

I saw inside the Graduate building, specifically in the Admission Office. Yeah, I saw people from all over the world, Brazilians, Americans, etc.

I thought that too, but they put the curriculum and the photo of the candidates in a board on the wall...

Given that the submission of photographs is not part of the admission process, then it must be that these individuals are current students and represent the current composition of the LLM program.

True. There's a difference between an LLM candidate and an LLM applicant. So far we are just applicants.

Ok, this is full of imprecisions. The ll.m. candidates are people studying here at harvard. They include 150+ people from 65 different countries. You saw the pictures of real admitted ones.

As far as the law school buildings are concerned, they are not scattered, they are as close as they can be, not more than 100 meters from each other.

good luck.

Thank you crimlawyer! That finally makes some sense. They never asked us to submit our pictures with the application form, anyway.

What does crimlawyer mean anyway? Crimson Lawyer, or criminal lawyer?

Applicant2010, any luck with the transcript?

I got the university HLS asked about to send them a confirmation of my enrollment as a non degree seeking student. My tracker was updated on the 8th so now it reads:

Transcript - Other School 1 Received 2/8/2010 716 AM

(even though this isn't actually a transcript I sent). I guess they will ask me if they want any more information?

Lextra, does your application status continue to say received, or has it, too, been updated to reflect "complete"?

You mention 'too' - Who else has had this updated ?

(i.e. other than the gent
who a paper app. sent)

Sorry, I meant "too" in terms of the one transcript update to which Lextra referred, i.e., the transcript was updated but was the overall status updated as well.

The "received" will never change into "complete"...

If it says "received", there is nothing to worry about.

Read the email they sent before. It says, in short, to consider your application complete the following items in the tracker should state as "received".

Don't expect to them to change the status of the ones stating "received" to "complete"...

supra, no, it still says 'received'. From the email we got in December and the conversation I had with the admissions official, I'm not expecting the main status to change to complete. You just have to keep on checking the tracker regularly to make sure they're not requesting additional information (I wish this wasn't the case because I want to push this application to the back of my mind so it doesn't bother me as much when the likely rejection arrives!)

My concern is that I called several months back and the admissions office informed me that there is a "complete" status. But if no one else's status is "complete," then I guess they are not using it.

This post is about sharing notes, not about complaining. It is designed to ascertain information about the process. Everyone on here is awaiting a decision, and no one, unless exigent circumstances are present, is able to obtain one earlier than anyone else. So your post does not really add anything constructive to the dialogue.
