If anyone applying to Harvard gets in somewhere else and has to respond to the other university before Harvard makes its decision, it will be pointless to email Harvard for an early response.

I recently got accepted into the LSE's LLM Programme in the UK and I have to respond to their offer in by the end of February. So I wrote to Harvard and explained that I have a month to get back to LSE and if they could let me know, or at least give me an inkling, about my application by the end of February, it would make things a lot easier for me (also because on their website FAQs they encourage you to get in touch with them about such a situation).

This following is the reply I received:

"Thank you very much for your email and for sharing this news with us.

Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to comply with a request for an early decision of your application for admission. We are still in the early stages of our application review process. Harvard Law School has a very rigorous admissions process requiring that each successful application be approved only after a careful evaluation process by a committee of experienced staff and faculty. Our admission decisions are generally made by late March. Therefore, we would suggest that you ask for an extension from LSE. Most top law schools will usually grant such requests in order to help you make an informed decision.

If you are not able to get an extension, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Kind regards,

Graduate Admissions Committee."

So just a heads up if someone else is in a similar situation, you have no choice but to wait it out for another 6-7 weeks.

Good day there soso14886! i think you should follow what the admissions committee had told you through that e-mail. first, you should try to e-mail the LSE for extension. i think LSE will grant your request..

Just hold on... Six to seven weeks will be around the corner soon. Just take a deep breath and smile ....

Hi! in past years thread your problem came up and what I could see if that HLS is very strict... it is very unlikely they will give you an early decision, so your chances are to get an extension from LSE... otherwise, they will probably recommend you to accept LSE offer... I dont speak from Personal experience, but you can read it in others thread...

Anyway, as they have pointed out, LSE will probably granted you that extension.. good luck!! :)

I have also been admitted to LSE, and am also waiting for a decision, but not from Harvard, Cambridge instead. I have read in the offer pack that we might answer them when we would be ready, even in May. And one more thing, mate, we dont have to ask them for an extension (they have written that directly in the offer e-mail). So my point is that just relax, mate and lets wait for the decision from our first choice unis;)

Seems like a few of us are in the same situation: being admitted to LSE and waiting for HLS (and NYU for me too - all being tax llm programs in my case).

I guess we will have to wait a bit longer. By any chance, does anyone know whether one can accept the offer from the LSE and decline at a later stage without any penalty fee?

This wouldn't hurt your application. My transcripts were send by the University of London by end of december and they werent processed and sent to HLS till January. I confirmed from HLS. It doesn't hurt your application.

Have you checked your status lately?

1) When I check my track status at HLS application webpage, I see:
- Recommendation 1 Status No current status. Please check back later
- Recommendation 2 Status No current status. Please check back later
- Recommendation 3 Status No current status. Please check back late

The strange thing is that I have the confirmation email indicating that my Recommenders have uploaded the Letters.

What is your status regarding point?


2) At the LSAC webpage, I see that they did not request my Reports. It is shown under the tab "Incomplete Reports".

What is your stauts regarding this other topic?
