Harvard LLM 2013-2014

This is a bit random, but has anyone else received an email from Harvard strongly encouraging you to apply for certain external scholarships? I received an email along these lines a couple of weeks ago - the email expressly stated that the fact they were sending it to me was no indication I had or would be accepted, but I can't help wonder what it means....

@Ali22 - Please confirm this: "the email expressly stated that the fact they were sending it to me was no indication I had or would be accepted".... I never received an email from Harvard along these lines.

I can confirm it - I received the email too. Ali22 and I are both Australians and have access to a couple of external scholarships apart from the Fulbright.

In my mind it was nothing but a courtesy email.

Sim_Trom - If it is a courtesy email, then why haven't all applicants received it? All applicants have access to external scholarships. Did you apply for Financial Aid? I wonder if the email is targeted to Australians and/or Fullbright applicants only.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The scholarships are for Australians only, so it was targeted at Aussies :). I have a financial aid application.

I applied for financial aid too. After reading everyone's responses I am pretty confident that email doesn't mean anything at all - alas! It was probably sent to all potentially eligible applicants for the scholarships. I guess I'll just have to wait to find out if I'm in. At least a decision can't be that far away now...

I'm not sure if this has already been asked in the past.. But would anybody have any idea as to when in March Harvard will likely release the results of the LLM application based on the past years? Thank you and Happy Sunday! :)

For all those who are pondering over that 'seek external scholarship email'

It specifies that this email doesn't affect your admission in HLS. Just like it was told that your application regarding financial aid doesn't affect your admission at HLS.
The email has only been sent to those who 1) made a financial aid application. 2) HLS perhaps might not be able to assist them on their financial aid application. Hence, the suggestion to seek external scholarship.

It really doesn't mean anything more than that. So relax all of you and good luck.

Thank you cma for explaining this.

Exactly just one more week to go now guys! I'm starting to feel some nerves..

I honestly can't imagine getting in. Although I feel like I've submitted a strong application, I've already been rejected at Columbia. Probably doesn't happen a lot that applicants are rejected from Columbia but admitted to Harvard..

Still hoping though! Would be a dream come true.. Good luck to you all!

Same here. But I do not think it is a criteria valid for all of them. Each school has its own .

I did not receive that email although I applied for financial assistance! So if the email was directed at those who applied for financial assisance and does not in anyway foreshadow a decision, what would it mean??

which email are you referring to? the email encouraging you to apply for external scholarships, or the one asking you to ask for extensions on other offers?
