hi supranote, I ws asked to provide name, family name, handy number and email. the lady said that i should send a email but i thought that will only get me a computer response. so i asked her that it was urgent!!! and she made me wait for like 6 minutes on international !! after that she said if I had any early deadlines I advise you to accept those. also she said please visit the online app form to know more abt hls timeline, as if that would give any help. so now i'm really confiused.

Supranote1, just wondering where you applied? You only applied to one school, right?
Yes, only to one school. I am an American applicant as well, so I believe my admissions criteria are different than international applicants.

Based upon what you wrote, it appears that you received a decision from HLS in a very opaque fashion that was not intended to appear any different from answering general admissions questions. Personally, if I were in your situation, as badly as I would want to receive a firm admissions decision from HLS, I wouldn't jeopardize enrolling where you have both been admitted and received money.

hi, my problem is that if i accpet nyu and later get rejected by harvard, i will not want to attend this year llm. and i am afraid of backing out of ny uafter accepting (because it can hurt my chanses next year). on the other hand if i get hls (or yale) admission i can take a risk and back out with hopefully no shot term impact.any suggestions ?
Posted Mar 05, 2010 19:33
I am curious. If u don't plan to do ur llm this year in case u dun get into Harvard and Yale why accept NYU in the first place?

If I've read your post correctly, you only want to do an LL.M. if you get into Harvard/Yale. As such, I don't really see a dilemma -- why don't you just decline NYU's offer?

hello. i have not taken a final desision yet and if i cannot take it by next week, i may agree to nyu to not close my only option.
do u think there is any chance of nyu increasing my skolarship amount ?

Oh ok.. so u do still want to go to NYU even if u dun get into Harvard or Yale. In that i would suggest u accept the offer. I don't think NYU would increase your scholarship.

Nyu is such a big university yet it has so much of anti-student policy. i got not even 15 days to decide whether to accept NYU and other peopl have got time till april. this is so unfair (
Posted Mar 05, 2010 19:42
There are a lot of ppl who have to decide way before that. The bigger scholarship holders have to decide by March 9th.

Good Day to all. I am going out to ask my english tutor to help me make a email to harvard explaning my position once again, and a email to nyu asking for formal extension till mar 21. Very sorry to all for my poor englisch causing any problems.

Do you think there's a problem if you e-mailed them at llmquery@?
Posted Mar 05, 2010 22:03
I don't think it would be a problem. But when i called them up to try and get them to expedite my decision they asked me to mail at gpquery.
Cyberlawyer- have u been accepted to NYU as well?

Yep, also in at NYU! =)
Happy and anxious about it... it's really an extreme decision to decide to go to an university in such short notice (they only gave us 1 week!)
If I go there, in addition to the scholarship I was awarded, I'll need some financial help to cover living costs in the US (and it's NYC on top of it all) and it's impossible to assess everything there is to assess in this regard in just 1 week. I'll probably have to make a leap of faith and believe I'll have financial backing by August, but it's certainly a non-conservative approach to planning expenses...
But right now I'm really anxious about this e-mail issue! I haven't seen anyone around here having sent e-mails to llmquery (which I used because it is the address indicated in the instructions at the online application site). I'm having this crazy fear that HLS might not have received my e-mail.

Send an e-mail to the other address as well and indicate that you also submitted an e-mail to the first address. Or, CALL THEM VIA TELEPHONE before they leave for the weekend. I suspect your request will be denied, but you might as well ask.

I don't know what to think about HLS repeatedly denying expedited decision requests and instead informing people to accept earlier offers with financial aid. I haven't found anyone on this board at all (even in previous years) who reported successfully applying for an expedited decision. Yet they still have the procedure (at least on the face of it). I don't know if any of the people who received the "take your other offer" advice last year subsequently got into HLS.

L&E, very best of luck with your expedite request. I imagine most decisions would be made by now so hopefully it is close enough to them releasing decisions to grant.
You also applied to Yale, no? Any word from them? (I didn't apply there, but am curious.) I think it is odd that HLS/YLS seem willing to lose good candidates to Columbia or NYU for the sake of a week or two. Maybe the decisions are made over a very short, intensive review period in late February/early March.
Yes. Applied to them. I gather they have started releasing decisions. but no luck on that front... having said that, they only started releasing from Friday; so, keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks...

Aren't they supposed to mail the decisions by March 15th or 22nd?

I was referring to YLS..:)
This post was in response to the query from the quoted poster....
You are on the button so far as HLS is concerned. Its either of the two dates you are talking about...
