Or it may not be regions, it could be Harvard keeps track of those who have also applied to other schools (ie: Yale) and wanted to get out admissions to those students before next week.
In the final analysis, I think people should not go bonkers if they received the March 17th email but did not receive the admission email today.
The March 17 email explicitly stated that decisions would be finalized on March 27. I think we should take HLS on its word here.

What was the time you received e-mails offering admission? And do you think they have send at the same time e-mails to all admitted?
Posted Mar 24, 2006 20:55
JW: Ok, I hope you're right...it kind of makes sense to me, (that's if all those admitted today applied to Yale or other schools with deadlines right ahead)...I did not apply to Yale...I did not receive the test email but I did receive the March 17th email...Nothing left to do: gotta wait.
Posted Mar 24, 2006 20:57
Hi JW,
Sorry if I couldn't make me clear.
I said that my mailing adress is in the same state and I received the e-mail postponing the decision's date on March 17th too. So, not necessarily all people living in countries overseas received that e-mail.
Congratulations to the admitted ones!
I am from South America BTW.

anushka: You're right in my boat. I did not apply to Yale, Stanford, only NYU (admitted) and Columbia (waiting). I did not receive the test email, but did receive the March 17 one.
It appears that those who received the March 17 email did not receive the test email today. We'll just have to wait until next week as HLS instructed-- it could be any variable. I tend to think it has to do with either your country/region/ or schools to which you've applied.
There is a reason why schools ask, rather harmlessly, where else you've applied.

Hi JW: I haven't read all your post. You meant that some countries have a bigger number of applicants.
Yes, I do agree.

Hi JW: same boat indeed. I was admitted to USC, G-town, NYU and currently waiting for Columbia and Harvard.
Let's hope to get some news next week then...
Good luck eveyone...all of us...and to those admitted today, CONGRATS again.

deni: that's right, that could be one of the variables. I am from Canada and can tell you that a lot of canucks apply to Harvard... so I think there would be a more protracted process of determining admissions.

Folks -- have any US applicants received an offer of admission? Is it possible the emails being sent are to ensure overseas (out of US) folks receive their info in a timely manner?
Posted Mar 24, 2006 21:19
Mcevoy: I hope not...I'm out of the US myself... :S

Sorry guys, I did apply to Yale but wasn't admitted (that is what I assume as I haven't heard from them yet) and I did not apply to Stanford.
But good luck to all of you

I applied to both Stanford and Harvard (not Yale) and got the test e-mail and admission e-mail. I'm from Mexico (Monterrey) BTW. Anyone else from Mexico?

Anushka: Mila applied to Yale. So theory is not dead yet. :-)
Like I said, no need to go bonkers. We'll find out next week.

I am from Finland. I'm also a Fulbright Graduate Student. There seems to be one lawyer-Fulbrighter each year in Finland. The guy who got it last year is now at Harvard, doing his LL.M. degree. I got accepted to Yale and Harvard, among other schools. It seems to me that in regards to applying for American law schools we have been privileged, as there are not too many Finns competing for these admissions. The competition must be incredibly fierce in countries with huge population like India or Brazil. It's an unfair world (hopefully I don't sound patronizing).
