Harvard decisions

So NOT everyone got the March 17 email (pasted below), and NOT everyone got the TEST email...

"An email was sent out to you on February 22, 2006 stating that decisions were going to be made by the 17th of March, 2006. This information is no longer accurate. We are still in the process of reviewing applications and decisions will not be made until the last week of March. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Decision letters will be sent to you the week of March 27th. You may call our office for decision results beginning on March 29th.
With thanks,
Graduate Program."

This whole application process is kinda messy...I wasn't expecting this from Harvard...

I wish someone from the Admissions Office of HLS read the last posts... Can they imagine how many of the applicants will choose other universities over HLS because of all this mess?

It might be so... It seems that equity has the most "cool head" conclusions... anyway if that is not too private, equity, how do you know so much information regarding Harvard decision process? Are you insider? Or maybe person that has some close relation with someone from admission office. Im only curious thats all
I talked today to friend of mine who is professor on Duke (Fuqua school of Business) and who is from time to time in admission committee (I know that Law school is not Business school, but Im pretty sure that the principles in decision making are the same) . He said that people in admission office (not professor but regular employees) even in institutions like Harvard are very often b-class idiots and usually dont know what to do and mess up everything. On the other hand, I would be very happy to think that way in this case

Equity, thanks in advance on your answer!

I was right, I think; about this theory. I was just admitted to Harvard. Probably declining it for Yale, though. It will be a tough call.

Ok!!
I've been accompanying this board for a long time and it has been realy helpful for us all to know if we are in the same pace.
Until today I was so calm since i've received all the e-mails, including the one sent last Friday, 03/17/06.
Now I don't even know what to think anymore.
I can't believe that a so weel internationally respected Law School as Harvard would create so huge mass and confusion.
The problem is that we are just speculating a lot instead of trying to believe on what they said.
Why not to believe that the decisions will be sent only next week ?
Why are we causing such nervousness to ourselves?
I think there is no need for that.
Sorry guys, I think we should just start posting sth. real at this point.
If any of us receives a real admission or rejection, please lets post it then.
Not things such the "oh, my friend just got an admission call from HLS, but I'll take this post out of here because it's confidential" Come on!!! Shame on you!!!!
I didn't receive the "test e-mail" by the way.
The best of luck to us.

Ok, well, here's be theory as to the discrepancies here.

Those that received the March 17 email (but not necessarily the "test" email today) after the Feb 22 one, are likely from those countries or regions where Harvard needed a few more days to determine admissions... whereas, for the people admitted today, the decisions were made and therefore did not receive the March 17 email.

Thus, more admissions emails will come on Monday, as per the March 17 email.

I was admited too. As I most likely didn't make it to Yale, see some of you in Cambridge next year. I prefer Harvard over Chicago or NYU.

Good Luck to the rest of you.

Sorry JW.
I don't think this quite right. I am from South America currently living in Massachusetts., just 20 min. from Harvard.

Deni: I'm not sure I understand your point? Are you saying that because you're South African but living in Mass. that you would have received your decision already? I

My point was simply that there may be some regions where admissions decisions are more difficult than others.

Congrats to all admitted!

I have also received the admission offer -email from Jeanne Tai (I had received also this test-mail) but probably I will also decline the offer for YLS. An interesting point: I have to accept the offer from YLS till 10 April and during this week I will have to wait for the decision of HLS regarding my financial aid application .
