I am quite confident about my post. I dont want to kill anyone but this was just to stop the confusion.
My friend visited the Head of Admission Office and he saw that they already had the list of the accepted students. The Head declined to let my friend see it as he told him that some names are similar and there might be some misunderstanding. They sent admission emails to all those who were admitted at the same time. THat's why most people got it around 2-3 PM Boston Time. Nobody got it after that. I am sorry to bring sad news but I believe that it is just the way it is.

First of all, cograts to all admitted to Harvard !!
How many of you who got admitted so far applied for the International Tax Program - ITP ?
Do you think that admissions letters will be/have been sent at the same time ?
Thanks in advance.

One more thing. I am sure everybody got the second test email. Many of my friends who are apparently hopeless also got the second test email. So I agree with the theory that those who were admitted got two test emails, the first one being the test before sending admitted emails and the latter being the email sent to everyone.

To Killmenow and all:
I understood some people did not get the second test email.... no?

I havent read all of the posts. If I am wrong, I am sorry.. I am not sure abt the implications of the second emails, but I do sure that those admitted would have had the admission emails by now.

Thank you for your information.
But I'm quite sure that at least ten friends of mine haven't got anything. Not everyone got the second email.

That's really the killing news....just killed all my hope. But at least I can stop endless guessing and enjoy my weekend. So, Killmenow, thank you so much for sharing the bad news :)
Best wishes for all of us not in at HLS and Congrats to all admitted!!

1. HLS received all the applications until the December 1 deadline.
2. After a first evaluation they shortlisted candidates.
3. The shortlist has been reevaluated and they have recetly comleted the list of "admitted students".
4. Admitted ones, they got the first test e-mail, and consequently the admission e-mail.
5. Rejected students in the short list are sent the second e-mail.
6. They will probably say to 2nd test e-mail receivers, on monday, that their application will be reevaluated in case the admitted ones reject the offer.
7. 2nd e-mail receivers will get no offer afterwards, because everybody wants to go to harvard :)
the anatomy of a depressive situation.
take care.

That is not a great news for me anyway. That's why I named myself as you see it.

underpressure, I agree with you in that I don't see much hope for a waitlist for HLS. However, I'm still wandering about the people who hasn't received any test emails yesterday (I know a few)... such a mistery!

Well here is my problem with this account.
If we accept what KillMeNow has said, then you have the Admissions Office contradicting itself.
Why? Because many on here received the March 17th email which explicitly stated that all admissions decisions would *not* be finalized until next week (the week of March 27, 2006). That is to say, some admissions decisions would be made before that date, but final decisions would not be made until then.
If all decisions were made as of yesterday, then you have an Admissions Office that is confused about its own deadlines and emails. I think the simple answer is not to concoct conspiracy theories, but simply follow what the email actually said - nothing final until next week.

My friend said that next week is a spring break so the committee had to decide by last friday. The finalized list had been made on Friday and the staff will handle the tasks afterwards. They probably sent the admitted emails on Friday for fear that, if it is too delayed, they will lose many applicants.

the answer is easy.
they notify the admitted students earlier.
next week there will be only rejected ones.
they never respect what theysay before..that was the case in nyu too..( they said that no e-mail notification will be done, the result was completely different)

Again, I ask, any US persons receive acceptance yet?
Posted Mar 25, 2006 19:37
Killmenow,
If you do have a friend in Harvard, why don't you also ask him ( 1) why Admissions Office sent those test mails? And why don't ask him (2) what was the purpose of this second test mail? And finally: why don't you ask him (3) why some applicants have received it (including those who had received the admission mail) and some applicants haven't? If he has plenty access to the Head of the Office, I bet he could give us these precious informations too, finally "killing" our anxiety and doubts. Thanks.

Well, when he came online on msn at 5.30 PM Boston time on Friday. I just told him that Harvard has sent out its admission emails. He told me to wait for 10 mins because he had to run across the hall to the admission office. At that time, I did not ask anything except to check whether my name is included in the admitted list. Then, he came back and told me what I used to post in the earlier thread. I am sorry that I did not ask him those questions. Well, we just have to wait till Monday and see. Be relaxed. What is ours, is ours.

KillMeNow,
You're right. Let's wait. Anyway, thanks for your answer.

I've got no emails from Harvard ever since the one on Feb 22. I don't count on it...Luckily, Harvard is not my dream school.
Posted Mar 25, 2006 21:09
All-- Am I missing something? Why would they send a test email if they still claim decisions can be obtained by calling on the 29th? What would have been the purpose of making certain they had emails of some of us for "future correspondence?"
I still think they were not all delivered on Friday and more acceptances will flow on Monday? Am I delusional?
