Hello,
I have also been tracking my application status and there is still no progress on updating info abt recommendation letters. It still says "No current status. Please check back later". And my letters have been delivered almost three weeks ago.
Anybody has any progress on the updating of their recommendation letter status on the tracking page?

Why did you mail your LORs rather than having those uploaded online by your recommenders? Just asking..:)
Mine is on "received". I cannot remember exactly when the letter was delivered. Approximately one month ago.
I think you shouldn't worry much by the way.

I mailed some and uploaded the other online! The one I uploaded online has also not been changed to "Received"

If the one uploaded in on "submitted" you should be pretty fine.

Hi all! My toefl ibt score was released and forwarded to Harvard by ETS on November 12. However, the track status still says: "no status please check back later." I dropped an email at GPquery@law.harvard.edu, and they said they have not received my score report. I also sent an email to ETS, but still got no response. Does anyone encounter the same problem? or if you guys may share, how long did it take from your score release until the status changed in the track status? Thank you all in advance

How did you know that? I emailed them twice before and they only replied with the same standard responses, stating that they were busy dealing with a large volume of documents received...

Source?
In my correspondences, -which I asked them about this "mailing deadline" like a thousand times- stated that the deadline is STRICT (even for the TOEFLs) and it is the 1st of Dec.
Please do not rely on what is in forums, ask the GP Query just in case.

well it's 2 Dec for this year because 1 Dec was a Sunday - they made this clear on the online application form.

on a related note, that person probably replied to the wrong thread...
it seems from the history of his/her posts that he/she is applying to Yale, Colombia, Berkeley and Stanford this year.

Hello Folks!
It is going to be a long, exciting, and -from time to time- maddening path specially if you do not get neither accepted nor rejected but wait-listed. And you will have to keep waiting till the end (september 2014).
However, it's gonna be fun! I got onto the wait-list of the Msc. Law and Financial of Oxford last year, so I know what I am talking about.
Anyway, good luck to all of you!
Till we talk/write again!

Are applications still open? I'm a current LL.M.. Happy to briefly answer any questions about experience of program thus far or whatever limited advice I can give about the style of my application. I found this site helpful last year.
General tips for personal statement (in my v. limited opinion): look like you are driven but not an asshole. Also know about why Harvard is different from other schools and tailor that to your aspirations of wanting to study here (environment of leadership etc, genuine interest in professor's perspective on an issue, particular concentrations, stellar classmates etc.). Make sure you use all of the very complicated format of the application to sell yourself in a non-bragging way. Use the work experience boxes etc to sell yourself. Don't write about how you want to do the LLM program so you can get a biglaw job in NYC or work for the UN or World Bank. Tailor it to an issue in your home country or a long term legal issue that you are passionate about and aspire to contribute to in your career. Explain how the Harvard LLM will aid this.
Real mix of people- Majority seem to have have already embarked on legal career (UN, top firms in home country etc) but some are coming straight from primary law degrees with very little work experience (mainly British, Irish and Canadian students). Hugely diverse class, people from all over the globe. Majority seem be in mid-late 20's but lots of exceptions both ways. Most importantly everyone very down to earth and super friendly, even at the moment which is exam time (currently procrastinating).

Hey,
the deadline has already passed , however, when you are already here... well, could you tell us something about the courses, exams and so on. I would really be interested to hear something from someone who is already in the program. For example, are there any limitations like that some classes are alerady full so llms can not join them, or what is whit the exams? Are you tested together with the JD students or are there some seperate exams?

Hi I just tried to login to once more check on the status of my (submitted in time) application and it seems like i cannot access it anymore. If I log in, it redirects me to "new applications" and tells me that the LL.M. application deadline has passed. - However, it worked before?
Anybody has a similar problem?

Hi!
Dont worry about that. I had the same problem. You just have an outdated link. You still can access it you just have to follow the link from the HLS web site directly and not try to log in over embark

llmcroatia:
Classes allocated by a waitlist and you compile a priority list before you arrive. Generally speaking if you place a course near the top of your list you will get in. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who didn't get into most of what they wanted whether through initial offer, waitlist offer or firesale. Admin are amazingly helpful and tell you all this info well before you arrive. Some clinics etc require separate applications and not sure about entry rate for these. The huge number of courses also means that if you don't get into something you want or it clashes with another, there is usually a similar course at some point in the year.
Exams are all taken with the JD's, there was a special class this year for LLMs- Introduction to the American Legal System. Not all took it as it is mainly a course to satisfy the new bar requirements and teach you legal memo writing etc. if you are coming from a non common law country. The prof. for that class is great.

Thanks, that is great to hear. If I am accepted (what I hope because I just applied to Harvard and no other university) my plan is to combine tax/economic analysis of law courses with courses that are required to take the NY bar. I intend to stay for a few years in the US, as researcher though, but the Bar would for sure be a qualification that could make it easier for me to find something adequate...
Maybe in this regard, do you kwon if professors usually take LLMs as assistants or are those positions reserved for J.D.s and J.S.D.s ? And what is your impression; would a LLM student have a chance to stay at HLS for some research after graduation? I will most likely have my PHD in law next year so I would really like to work on some publications during and after my LLM

Are there many there intending to take the bar for the sake of it? For the CV that is - and then not intending to practice in USA.
It would be a nice thing to do post LLM but it seems like a painful experience.
