For those interested in scholarships, I think it is very beneficial to send an email to the Gtown Graduate Admissions email address stating why Gtown is your first choice for next year and why the choice is hard due to financial difficulties. This was the truth for me, as I had to turn down a job offer to attend Gtown next year, so I called admissions and stated that I wanted to attend Gtown, but it would be very hard for me to justify paying the full tuition next year instead of having an incoming salary. The admissions officer stated that I should put everything I said to her in writing and email it to the Grad Admissions email address, so that those statements could be considered by the scholarship committee. I did what she said, got a nice response email, and did end up receiving some money. I don't know if my email was the difference maker, but its worth a shot...

Well, I did it twice in the last 7 days and received absolutely no response.. Anyone else going through the same?

Regarding scholarships, Justin Swinsick from graduate admissions told me that the only scholarships available for the for the domestic tax LL.M. are Grad Tax Scholars, Leonard B. Terr, and KPMG. They do not offer any additional awards. He also said that the KPMG, Terr, and all but one Grad Tax Scholar scholarships have already been given out.

Enrollment response form and $300 tuition deposit deadline. If you have been admitted recently, you might have a postponed deadline.

Oh gotcha, yeah I was admitted on Friday. Don't even have access to the admitted students portal yet so I have no information.

Hi everyone!

Are any of the admitted students thinking of doing the Summer Program? I'm planning to take the bar so I'm not entirely sure if it would be beneficial to get the credits out of the way?

Thanks!

I am gonna take the NY bar exam as well. So I am considering to take the summer program if my sponsor gives me permission to do so.

Since the required courses: Ethics and either Intro to US law or Legal Writing, are the credit subject, you are qualified to take the NY bar exam if you can enroll the remaining courses in compliance with the Bar requirement.

I'll take the LLM Summer. It seems that it can help with credits to qualify for the NY bar.

Does anyone want to share an apartment next to the Georgetown Law Center?

Thank you T&T and md1718!

I was a bit unsure if I already qualify for the bar having a 3-year law degree from a common law jurisdiction, and if that meant that I didn't need to take the required courses in my LLM to 'cure any deficiencies' as they put it in the requirements, or if every LLM candidate wishing to take the Bar has to do the introductory courses + the 6 credits in NY bar subjects that appear to be requirements. I suppose I'll have to request that from the NY bar administrators themselves, which I understand can take a while. Either way it seems smart to get 4 credits out of the way earlier!

Thanks for the help!

Not so far. I believe this is a really weird system. The second tuition deposit deadline is approaching and we should also apply for the F-1 or J-1 Visa. A scholarship can make the difference, given the fact that I have been awarded one from another university and I do not want to lose it.

Yes, same for me. What is the other university you received a scholarship from (if I may ask) ?
