Accepted into the Tax program Feb 6 after completing my application January 17.

Just got back from a road trip that included a stop in DC to see Georgetown. For those who have not been there before, it's definitely a nice campus, with a ton of amenities.

No scholarship information received either way. Also applied to the COST fellowship - again nothing. I will tell you as it stands that $30k scholarship would leave absolutely no doubt about my attendance. As it stands I am a Florida resident and admitted to UF and the price difference is about $30k not counting cost of living. That said, I'm about decided that if I'm leaving my job and going back to school I might as well go all out. Georgetown is leagues ahead of UF in terms of clout and name recognition amongst the general community.

I'm trying to figure out who I can contact to discuss the career outcomes of these programs more. Everybody I know went to UF for their LLM and all are doing at least ok - I would assume that outcomes are better at Georgetown, BUT just looking at the solid employment stats is not the whole story .

Also, how selective is the tax program really? I've read approximately 21% of applicants are admitted, but of course I worry that those are old numbers given the shifts in the legal education profession.

I've been accepted to GULC's tax LLM program and hoping to receive a scholarship. Can anyone speak to the likelihood of receiving scholarships? I applied for the Grad Tax Scholars, but I'm not sure if my application is competitive. I'm in the top 10% at a bottom tier law school, A's in all tax classes, and two tax moot court championships. However, I'm still a 3L and came to law school straight from undergrad, so I don't have much professional experience, aside from part-time jobs at a few general practice law firms. Any advice?

Congrats rdlbaere for your admission and scholarship. It is indeed a good achievement. I have also received a offer of admission to Georgetown law centre for General LLM with certificate in Human rights but no news about any financial scholarship. I have written to them and have received a reply that Scholarship decisions will be issued through April. Am just on tenterhooks in this regards as i have acceptance deadlines of 15th March at Emory, UW, USC Gould school, GW law and a few others.

Thank you, and congratulations to you on your admission too! :)
Maybe you can ask for a deadline postponement from those other schools? In any case, I hope you get a scholarship decision from Georgetown very soon!

Same here, scholarship decisions are usually made quite a bit later than admission decisions. I heard back on my scholarship decision months after my admission.

Hey all,
I was admitted to the tax program back in mid-January and received a nice little scholarship offer last week, meaning I am pretty much decided on attending Gtown next year (haven't heard from NYU yet but will choose a scholarship at Gtown over full price at NYU if it comes to that).
This being the case, I was wondering if anyone else is decided on Gtown for next year as well and is attending the open house later this month? Also, I am jumping ahead a bit, but I am also looking to begin the roommate search! I have been finding nice 3 bedroom townhouses and condos online in the area of GULC for pretty cheap, so I would love to find at least two roommates asap to begin house hunting.
Looking forward to seeing you all in DC next year!
-Matt

Hi Matt,

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

I work at a big4 (not KPMG) in a top 10 market (do not want to out myself) and am debating getting my LLM. I have been accepted to Georgetown (tax LLM), but was wondering if its worth it to go if I already do M&A tax. I am under review for a scholly but havent heard back yet. I have about 1.5 years of experience in M&A and am currently doing a rotation in International tax. I would be curious to hear peoples thoughts on whether its worth it to try to make that jump to big law or better position myself in tax world. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I received an admission email on February, 28th and still have not heard about the scholarship... I was wondering, you guys who have been offered a sholarship already: How long did it take after receiving the admission email to get an answer for the scholarship ?

Also, I am wondering if I will have an answer before April, 1st...

Thanks in advance.

Hey Jacopo.c! I also applied for the International Legal Studies LLM however haven't heard back anything yet. I was wondering if you don't mind sharing when you applied? I know Georgetown has a rolling admissions cycle and according to their '6-10 week' window I still have a couple of weeks to go since I applied on January 21st, but just wanted to know how long they took for you?

Congratulations on your admission!

Thanks!

Hi ColGre,

I applied on December 27 and all the documents were processed on January 3. I also had an interview with the Assistant Dean on February 28 and got admitted on March 10. I am sure they will let you know in the coming weeks.

Good luck!!
