I guess the admission office began to release their decisions. ( offer, waitlisted, etc) But my app still remain as the same. (application completed) Anyone face the similar situation or I just the outlier here?

Thanks for the info, CSJ. Great to hear.

Re: waitlist, I had a friend who was waitlisted last year and she didn't hear until two weeks before classes started in August! How absurd on their part. She had, of course, long since decided to attend another school.

Has anyone got a response today? I applied for the LLM in IBEL on 1/1/13 and went complete 1/7/13. Foreign graduate from the UK.

I got a response today I am on wait list, so sad to heard that I hope get in another school,

Regards

I am sorry to hear that. I'm not sure if anyone has any comments on how long ppl wait on the waitlist before they get accepted? I hope you don't have to wait too long. Thanks for responding. Best of luck.

It seems that people would go "Under Review" on Thursdays and if their application was an easy yes or no, they'd get an email on Friday around 4 pm or so DC time. Mine was strange because I went "Under Review" on Tuesday and got an email at 1 pm on Thursday.

Has anyone decided where to attend? I was admitted back in December to Georgetown but haven't heard back from NYU yet. I plan on submitting my updated law transcripts soon.

Anyone know the best areas to live if going to Georgetown? Not trying to spend my entire savings but don't want to live in an awful area. Willing to take subway or train from Virginia or Maryland.

Hey TAXLLM2013 -
GULC is my first choice and I was admitted. Definitely enrolling.

I live in Maryland and worked in various parts of DC for many years. Many terrific neighborhoods in DC. Since you are admitted, go to the Admitted Students web site for housing information. It has a map of neighborhoods that are good for GULC students. As a local, I concur with the descriptions of the best neighborhoods. Stay to the West of the law center and you're good.

BTW, I own a condo in North Bethesda, Maryland on the subway line--Red line straight to GULC; no switching trains. Our current tenant is leaving this summer. Maybe we'll post it on campus for students. Rent is much better than downtown and the neighborhood is upscale and plenty of green space. :)

Application for Tax LLM program went "Under Review" yesterday (2/27). What seems to be the usual turnaround from "Under Review" to hearing some sort of decision?

griffmi -
If they like the application, they seem to be sending out acceptance emails in 1-2 days. A lot of emails seem to go out on Fridays.

Mine went Under Review last Tuesday, which was unusual; and I got admission email lastThursday.

If they don't make a decision right away on the application, it may stay Under Review for a week or more.

I see in past posts that you have some estate planning experience. Did you apply to Tax LLM with Estate Planning Certificate? I think (but don't know for sure) that they may give preference to apps that include one of the Certificates (Employee Benefits, Estate Planning, State & Local Tax, several Int'l certificates) because they need to make sure the specialty classes will have good enrollment. Plus I think they like to see a targeted career goal rather than just general tax. But this is just my guess.

I think what CSJ said is generally accurate. I still waiting for the decision but my status went "under review" on late Jan, and 2 days later I received a deferral letter. Hence, if your status change to under review, they usually will release a decision ( offer, reject, waitlist, etc) in the foreseeable future.
BTW, while I waiting, I got an offer for NYU 2 hours ago :). Does anyone know what is the employment outcome looks like between NYU and Gtown? I am looking for Law firm/ Accounting firms, but I don't have preference regarding the location.

Congrats on NYU acceptance!! Top-ranked Tax LLM program in the country. Your employment prospects will be really good anywhere. I don't have any first-hand experience with NYU LLM, though, so maybe someone who does will respond.

You are Tax LLM, right?

Thank you CSJ. I am happy for your gtown acceptance too! I am the tax llm. I don't know where should I focus on though: I intend to follow international tax because I'm bilingual. ( ENG+ Mandarin (native) ), but my research indicates US IPO probably will recover soon due to the JOBS act. ( i think it eliminate certain overheard cost/requirements for the small company to do IPO) Therefore, there maybe more activity on the domestic level as well.
I know Gtown will give the student a certificate, but NYU does not. with that said, I tend to believe that would not make a significant difference, but if anyone know if does, please share with us or PM me. Thank you!

Hi all,

Have any of the admitted students to GULC been invited to apply for a scholarship, or, already received a scholarship? If you were offered a scholarship, could you please let us know how much you were offered.

Kind regards
