Hi Pete,
my boyfriend has been to Duke (while I was at Harvard) and he said: it sure was the best time in his life and the guys there are doing a f**** good job! I wish you best of luck! Enjoy! And remember: always keep smiling. And law is not everything, there is also philosophy!
Gotta run (lecture to be given...),
take care,
hugs, Marietta

I am a current LLM at NYU (part time school, part time work), and will attest that the corporate program is excellent. THe school is excellent, the city is excellent, all in all a great choice.
Honestly, as someone else said before, it wont make that much of a difference. A one year LLM program can only teach you so much (which is one reason why I went part time). I am sure DUKE has a great faculty as well and the Raleigh-Durahm triangle is cool in its own right.
Just make a decision based on location , $$$, and experience.
best of luck!!

Jar, there are several nice places to live in Durham. Many LLMs lived at the Belmont last year, and it is very nice, but don't think that this is the only place. The Alexan apartments are nice also, and Pinnacle Ridge is another popular complex.
Regarding a car, you will almost certainly need one, and there are several exiting LLMs who will have one to sell in late July. If you want their addresses, email me at pnaismith@ozemail.com.au. The same goes for furniture.
