Hey guys!

This question is for those who have applied for fellowhsip/scholarship for which we were required to fill an additional application in the main application itself.

Has anyone gotten a receiving/acknowledgment of the fellowship application being recieved by thei office.I only received acknowledgement with respect to main application. It just struck me and got me worried

If Columbia considers requests for expedited financial aid decisions one week before the earliest deadline of other schools, why does it not give out decisions one week before its own deadline. Surely people would factor in the same considerations for going to Columbia too right.

I got admitted but didn't fill out the financial aid form in my application. Does that mean I am not eligible for financial aid at all?

Hi I am on the same boat. Understanding that requesting the financial aid in that form would minimize my chances in getting admitted brought me to did not fill the form. However, I am waiting any response or any idea whether requesting a financial aid after got admitted is quite reasonable (even after paying the first deposit). Need your advise guys :)

Hey, requesting a financial aid does NOT affect their admission decision. I read this on their website under the FAQ’s. Here is what they say:

Does the fact that I am applying for financial aid affect my chances for admission?
No. All admission decisions are made separately from financial aid decisions.

BTW, when were you admitted? And had you applied for an expedited admission decision?

Hey, I don’t think any of us who applied for financial aid in the main form received a separate acknowledgment.

But now I’m concerned, was there any SEPARATE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION apart from the one found in the main application? Please advice!

Amen!!! This is getting so ridiculous. I got in back in February but been waiting to hear about financial aid / scholarships. I submitted that expedited request yesterday like many of you, but no word from Columbia so far.

Hi guys I have been waitlisted. I applied back in November and requested an expedited decision on both admission and financial aid when they sent out the form.

The email for the waitlist says they have not been able to make a decision on my application yet and they have placed me on the waitlist. I don't know if I should view this positively?

Is anyone else waitlisted or know what the chances are of getting off the waitlist and being accepted? I will obviously now pay the deposit at my second choice school to secure a seat but am still keen to go to CLS!

chances are high since some/most of us admitted will not go given the covid situation in NY and the ensuing economic downturn.

sad but true... GLS seems to be positive (for now) that they'll work as normal come August but I dunno. No one can know I guess. I'm just monitoring the situation to see whether the classess will also be distance learning and whether the visa apps will even reopen before Aug.

Has anyone received admission decisions these couple of days? I sent out the request for expedited review (for both admission and fin aid) on March 20 and haven't heard a word from GLS so far... A bit anxious as the April 1st deadline is really approaching.

Me and my girlfriend requested expedited financial aid decision and asked for it to be delivered today. We have both received our answers. Trust that the GLS office is doing everything in their power to expedite decisions!

Did they match other financial aid decisions provided to you?

Are we seeing a trend here? All those who apply only for expedited admissions decisions get a decision soon. However when along with that you ask for a financial aid decision too they have not yet replied?

I wrote them today asking for expedited financial aid decision. I'll let you know as soon as I receive an answer.

Anyway, I suppose that it's easier for them to decide quickly whether someone gets in than if someone should receive any financial aid.

Asked for an expedited decision on the financial aid last Monday and got my answer today :)

Very keen to hear about this too! I spoke to an academic advisor who said that they did not intend to force people to study if it was all online, which is good news!

Did you receive an answer on both? I got admitted today but nothing on FinAid.

Also os there a WhatsApp group for admitted students?

Didn’t match. Still I think I am accepting.
