Columbia LLM 2017

My status never changed to "Under review".
Mos importantly: some friends from my country received the answer yesterday.
I guess that there effectively is a "regional" selection.

Hey llmuser2017, which country are you from? :)

Hello folks - I applied early (sometime end October) and I got deferred to the regular cycle in December. I'm yet to receive news.

Quick question:
1. Have any of you early applicants who got deferred to the regular cycle heard back from Columbia (either acceptance or rejection)?

2. For those of you who have gotten admission - by when do you need to send in your confirmations to Columbia?

Any help/ insight would be greatly greatly appreciated. Its really awful being left in the dark with complete radio silence since December, especially when I applied so early :(

1. I was also deferred and got an admission last week. No scholarship/financial aid, though.

2. April 3.

At this point I really think we just have been waitlisted. If we haven't received an answer by now and the deadline to answering is April 3th, we'll probably need to wait after april 3th to see if someone declines his/her offer of admission.

There is a snow storm in New York today so I would not lose all hope just yet. In any event, a lot of schools do hold off without formally issuing "waitlist" notices because they likely evaluate in stages. They might have issued decisions already and are still holding out seats. The whole process is a mystery. All in all, don't worry, stay positive. Best of luck.

One question - does the waitlist theory apply to all applicants or only early cycle applicants who were deferred?

No - so my theory is that Columbia WILL let us know one way or another by end of this month. It makes no sense otherwise because most admitted applicants have been asked to give in their confirmations by April 3.

Sorry for another set of questions, but:

1. Have any of you received rejections lately/ recently? I'm simply wondering if they send out rejections on an on-going basis or if they wait for a bit and then send out all rejections altogether.

2. I've been given to understand that when the CLS review committee sees an application - they either box it under "admitted" or "rejected" and send out the verdict right away. Those applications that are on the fence (the ones they see potential in, but the ones they cannot admit right away) then goes into the waitlist category. On this point, have any of you received an email informing you that you've been waitlisted?

So, did I get it right, that regardless of the cycle of application, if an admission offer has not been communicated to as by far, starting from this point there is little likelihood of hearing good news until April 3?

I do not see much ground for such conclusion at this point.

There is plenty of time until April and high ranked schools are infamous for dragging their response period for too long into spring.

I believe that not receiving a response by now means only that they did not decide on you yet.

At lease 3 applicants from my country got feedback from Columbia an hour ago.

My TOEFL speaking score is lower than their minimum requirement, and they requested for an interview to guage the English level! I'm so nervous! Has anyone got the same or interviewed before?

In the admit email, Columbia mentions that they will send a package shortly. Anyone received it? What does it contain?

It's just a little book and a formal acceptance letter.

Guys, just checking - did your admission e-mail state the deadline for confirming enrollment/payment of the deposit?
