Columbia LLM 2017

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted!

I requested for an expedited decision on Sunday and unfortunately, received a rejection today. In their email, the Admissions Committee praised my academic credentials but asked that I reapply after having gained more law-related work experience (I have been employed with a law firm for almost two years now). Has anyone else who has been rejected or waitlisted so far received the same explanation? Is this the generic response being doled out by the Admissions Committee? Has anyone else received a different reason/explanation?

I know a few people with the same or lesser duration of work experience who have been accepted, and that makes me question the strength of my credentials. I'm wondering if reapplying in a few months would make a difference or if I should directly apply for the 2019-20 LL.M. Any suggestions/input would be highly appreciated!

Hi! I've been admitted and I have 5 years of experience. Try to reapply when you have at least 3-5 years of work experience. This may help you! Good luck!!!

I've been working for almost 10 years, with 5 in law firms and 4 in JVs, my tofle is good...credentials is aa, but got rejected....so sad.... want to know why...

Hey, when did you receive your decision? Did you apply for expedited review?

Any news on the Appel Fellowship grant? Is it very, very competitive? I've never heard or known anyone who got it, or whatever credentials that would suffice to earn it.

After anxiously waiting, the last day of March, I received the waitlist from Columbia. Well, I will still wait for Columbia's final decision until it comes.

Congrats to all who get admitted.

Hi there! I you don't mind me asking, did the email you received explicitly stated that you were waitlisted? I received an email from CLS a couple of days ago, saying that the school is "working hard and overtime to make sure everyone receives a decision by their stated deadline." And thanked me for my "continued patience."
Up to this point I'm not sure what does that indicate and whether or not I'll get a decision by my April 1 deadline. Or is it a de facto waitlist?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi, the email I received explicitly stated that I am waitlisted. I think in your situation now, they just haven't reviewed your application. Good luck to you!

Got my decision on fin aid last night - 20k waiver, deadline April 3. So they kept their promise:)

Hi! Did anything change on your apllication status change page? Did they post the dates in which you should make the payments or did they only state the date in which the email was sent?

I dont know if they post the dates in which payments should be made for people who have asked for expedited decisions

Yep, the status changed to "decision has been emailed", the correspondence list shows "financial aid decision sent" and the deposits appeared under Fees.

Legal paralegal I had the same e-mail Thursday and received an admission soon after. Hence, this is not a de facto waiting list.

I wasn't! They explained that most of their funds go to students that focus on public policy or human rights, because their future income won't be as high as in other sectors. Anyway, it's all case by case, so don't lose hope!!

I applied for the Human Rights fellowship and was told yesterday that no funds were granted to me.
Best of luck to everyone who are still waiting!

Congrats to those who have been admitted!
I'm just wondering, has anybody been successful in appealing for more or any financial aid at all?
