Columbia admission process

TFC, maybe other schools haven't finished their application proceedings, but I'm positive they have already, at this point, provided the applicants with one of these responses: admitted, rejected or waitlisted.

I've applied to 5 different schools and received replies from 4 of them timely. I sent my application to CLS on November and it was declared "complete" by CLS on December 6. On a rolling-basis system, I believe I should have already gotten a response, even if I was waitlisted. I paid a fee to have my application revised and I have the right to have a response within a reasonable timeframe.

Let's face it: whatever answer CLS send me right now is completely useless. I've already made my decision (forced by CLS incompetence) and, even if CLS accepted me now, I wouldn't have time to make all visa arrangements (and I'm positive CLS admissions office knows that this happens in several countries).

So, although I respect that you are really happy with the education you're getting from CLS and although I'm sure it is indeed and excellent school, please don't tell me that CLS admission proceeding is the same as any other school. It is not. It is WAY worse. The admission office shows absolutely NO respect towards applicants.

I will definetely advise future friends/attorneys not to apply to CLS unless its their dream school. It's money tossed down the toilet.

Paula, I absolutely agree. In my case, it was a total waste of money, and what it is worse, time and effort (not to mention that people who wrote my letters of recommendation can´t understand that I didn´t even received and answer).
That´s why I am very happy with my decision of enrolling NYU. I think I made the appropiate choice, even I if I would have been actually admitted to CLS.

The rolling basis process seems to be true! I was admitted yesterday, May 1. I was never waitlisted and my deadline deposit is 19th of May. Good luck to everybody!!

Hi guys! I got my "Admission Status" email last Friday. I was admitted, however, without any financial assistance. Did anybody hear about/get the Appel Fellowship or financial assistant. I'm curious whether they grant them this year...

This is really funny - after almost 6 months after I sent my application, Columbia sends me this e-mail:

Dear Mr. ****:

Please forgive the delay in processing your application to Columbia's LL.M. program. The committee is meeting today to review a final round of files, and would like to know whether you have made plans to go elsewhere or whether you might still be interested in attending Columbia next year.

Please advise.

Should I bother to send an answer or should I wait 6 months as well?

I received the same e-mail last thursday.
I couldn´t believe my eyes.
In my case, I didn´t answered, and I think I won´t do it, at least until christmas.

Frankly, they are a bunch of clowns. I recommend that you respond saying "of course i am still interested", let them admit you and then don't respond to them for 6 months.
See you at NYU!
