Yes they are. Got my admission email yesterday. Seems like "wait and see" was indeed the good attitude.

Still waiting for CLS. Good Luck in NY.

Hi Scotty, you are definitely not the only one. Besides me, I know at least 5 other Brazilians that are still waiting for an answer from CLS. If you hear anything from Marietta, please let us know.

Well, fear not people. Admissions decisions from Columbia are still ongoing.
I just received my admissions email a few minutes ago.

congrats -- good news. i am still waiting and i find Columbia's approach risible...

Thanks, Cynic. I have a feeling you will be hearing very soon, given what people have been posting on here (that decision are made, just need to be communicated).
I wonder if what's taking long is not admissions, but rather decisions on financial assistance. - both are communicated in the same email.

well, maybe -- although i didnt apply for fin aid myself.
oh well, the reality is that unless i hear from them in the next 2 days, i am headed to NYU...i have a 1 may deadline for NYU and i am sure that cant be extended given that i have been sitting on the nyu acceptance since 14 march. for columbia to send out decisions up to10 may is just plain idiotic.

I've been pretty impressed with NYU. They keep sending NYU Law magazines and faculty profiles. It's like they actually _want_ you.
As for financial assistance... well, I'm Canadian and $60,000 USD in Canadian pesos (joke) is hella expensive!

i hear ya -- luckily the pound's a little stronger -- but still a damn expensive proposition! yea, the NYU stuff has been pretty impressive (the interview with Dworkin's particularly interesting).
frankly, it's a shame columbia's admission procedure is such a shambles -- they risk losing people through incompetence rather than choice!

did anybody hear from Columbia lately?

Been calling Sylvia Polo all day but she's never at her desk - better chance getting a hold of George Bush than anyone at Columbia

I understand that lately rumor and disquiet have emerged regarding the CLS admissions process.
Based on my experiences last year I can fully identify myself with those applying this year.
Think of this as follows. There are 3 possible kinds of status:
1. admission
2. rejection
3. waiting
I believe to know that those complaining are in group 3. But who can tell me of any one university that has already finished its admissions process?
Please do not believe that I try to ignore your concerns. However, it is unfair to continuously attack CLS for its admissions process. CLS has issued the first admission emails in December 2005, long before some other schools have made their decisions. I wish good luck to all those still waiting for CLS admission.

whatever...i think its absolutely pathetic...anyways, no point wasting energy anymore...have already sent my deposit to NYU...

I agree completely. TFH's shameless promotion of Columbia's methods is ridiculous. As a rule of thumb, defending the indefensible just makes you look silly.
I can accept pride in one's institution, but his posts border on knee-jerk sycophancy. Reality check, TFH!

To be honest, I don't think there's anything wrong to show one's satisfaction with the school where he/she studies. And I haven't seen anything ridiculous in TFH's comments so far. In fact, TFH, as well as Dr_Jekyll, have shared with us much useful information about Columbia, which is exactly what we need at this stage to make our decisions. Meanwhile, they have never looked down upon other law schools in their posts. I think they are quite helpful. Why should we be so harsh...

Did anyone hear from Columbia today?

TFC, maybe other schools haven't finished their application proceedings, but I'm positive they have already, at this point, provided the applicants with one of these responses: admitted, rejected or waitlisted.
I've applied to 5 different schools and received replies from 4 of them timely. I sent my application to CLS on November and it was declared "complete" by CLS on December 6. On a rolling-basis system, I believe I should have already gotten a response, even if I was waitlisted. I paid a fee to have my application revised and I have the right to have a response within a reasonable timeframe.
Let's face it: whatever answer CLS send me right now is completely useless. I've already made my decision (forced by CLS incompetence) and, even if CLS accepted me now, I wouldn't have time to make all visa arrangements (and I'm positive CLS admissions office knows that this happens in several countries).
So, although I respect that you are really happy with the education you're getting from CLS and although I'm sure it is indeed and excellent school, please don't tell me that CLS admission proceeding is the same as any other school. It is not. It is WAY worse. The admission office shows absolutely NO respect towards applicants.
I will definetely advise future friends/attorneys not to apply to CLS unless its their dream school. It's money tossed down the toilet.
